I grew up in the sixties and remember this show well. I believe the name of the hostess was Cathy McGowan. Lovely to see famous stars playing and singing on stage so close to their audience. Everybody was so nicely dressed back then and I liked the way the young couples danced to the slow numbers. Wonder if that still happens today or is it just considered to be too soft and romantic?

Only a relatively small amount of RSG! material still survives today. Most of it is from the first 18 months or so of the show's original run, from October 1963 until March 1965. It amounts to about four complete or near-complete shows (three featuring the Beatles) and a small number of clips from others. After March 1965 until the final programme in December 1966, even less is known to survive - just one near-complete show from July 1965 and the September 1966 "Otis Redding Special"... again with a small batch of clips from other shows, mostly featuring the Rolling Stones. Compilation VHS tapes were released in the mid-80s, containing much of the surviving material ... as far as I'm aware, there has to date never been a DVD release in the UK. A book by Andy Neill and published by BMG Books is available giving a comprehensive history of the programme.

@@mikehunt8997 imdb reports 09/08/1963 · Ready, Steady, Go!: With Sandy Sarjeant, Cathy McGowan, Mick Jagger, Dusty Springfield. London based British Rock/Pop tv show broadcast every Friday night during its run until 23/12/1966. My problem indeed that it was independent television and clashed with other things on BBC so one could not watch both. Some Independent regions would broadcast at different times in the evening. It sort of followed 6-5special which was one of the Jack Good Promotions. The tip to the US was because that was seen as the cool place where the big stars and action was. The BBC later came up with Top Of The Pops - but had other chart type music shows before that , plus Juke Box Jury for celeb votes for new songs expected to be popular but that was generally a disc based show Other artists would appear on other Saturday night general entertainment shows, including Sunday Night at the London Palladium and the Billy Cotton Band Show.
