Wow--I've never seen most of these pictures (often see the same ones over and over on other sites)--and many of the subjects have smiles! The colorization work is top notch, as well.

first one is great, lot of vic portraits are stuffy and dull but there is life and emotion in the faces of these two

Amazing - these people really come back to life. The young Civil War soldiers faces look so modern - they were very handsome - hope they managed to survive & live out their life.

The French Family portrait - looks like an Aspidestra they're sitting around!! there's a guy called Stuart Humphreys who cleans up old Autochromes (not colourising them, cleaning them) and the colours just pop so much

@Bright Style What a pleasant surprise, being in California and seeing two civil war soldiers from my hometown of Bensalem Pennsylvania. Is there any identification with them? I would assume they belonged to the 104th PA.

Great pics but Americans don’t speak with a British accent. 😊 And wedding day 1890 New York, USA is really about 1920. The photo of the man in Norwich, England is not 1870s but more late 1850s. Add another decade to Alfred Barret ( shirt collar and tie gives it away) 😊
