well, where I live, "penny pincher" could be "he has an alligator in his pockets" ("tiene un cocodrilo en los bolsillos")....this is, every time he puts his hand in the pocket it bits so he can't take th money out the pocket :) Thank you very much for your lessons!!

But what if a company or a client or a bank wants to pay for something by a wire transfer, can I say that they'll deposit money to my bank account? Or should I use 'to credit money into my account'?

Not at all. It’s one of the weird grammar quirks that English has. 3 grand, 4 grand, 5 million, 6 million, etc.
