Amazing! What a selection. I'd like to see some jewelry made with some of these gemstones. The 45.00 a carat tray. Had some larger ones that could be made into nice pendants. I like the combination of diamonds and opals in jewelry. What a kind and generous dealer!!

I really wanna buy an opel ring. Do you have any recommendations that ship to the United States?
@kertbert113 күн бұрын
Your best best is to buy an opal and take the stone to a jewelry repar shop and have them make you a ring that you design yourself. I'm an Ethiopian opal dealer living in Canada who married an Ethiopian born in Dessie whom I met while she was selling her opals.

I like Australian opal but African oppo easy to fracture
@______IV8 күн бұрын
Australian opal is MUCH MORE prone to fracture/crazing than Ethiopian Welo/Wallo opal. Plus if you drop an Australian opal onto hard ground, you’ll instantly have a bunch of broken pieces of opal. If you drop Ethiopian opal onto hard ground, it doesn’t even scratch. Each stone has pluses and minuses though.

Can you do a video on why it costs so much to have a stone cut? There are tourist mines you can mine your own amethyst, topaz, sapphire, etc. But getting the $40 raw crystal cut is $3,000. Why?

Opal i think one of the most difficult gemstone to capture in photos and videos 😅
@drinsouthwestWAАй бұрын
Again the pricing is over the top, i get for $20-30 per carat from a trusted supplier, so go with that and bargain harder. Good quality though. But look at the volume, its not rare at all to get good fire in the finished stones.

If stones aren't gem or museum quality you tend to dismiss them. If they were as worthless as you repeatedly suggest, why do so many dealers carry them? Not everyone is quality obsessed the way you and I are.
@rebel1150Ай бұрын
overpriced, in india u will pay 80% less then in Bkk... the same quality

Hate to burst your ego, but as a dealer for over 25 years that's an impressive collection. The amount of Alexandrite is equally impressive for those who know, just sayin.

Snap! It crackled then popped!! So the saying goes! Pay more for a stable Australian or even better a Brazilian Opal due to hardness and stability if you can find one. It's become the rare, not finding much in 20 years.
@idrisabdella48142 ай бұрын
@gheart8278 I don't know why you underestimate Ethiopian opal yes the are few stone have unstable issues but there are a lot stable like something. Pls 🙏 let's talk with knowledge and experience. My god see the colour it's amazing
@gheart82782 ай бұрын
@@idrisabdella4814 it's similar to opal from Nevada. Very unstable material, I'm sorry if you've invested in the material. I actually purchased one of the first pieces in Tucson 20 years or so ago. I am an Opal expert/dealer for over 30 years, It is incredible material, but honestly It scares me and I've avoided it like the plague. I'm sure some is stable if you enjoy gambling. Do your homework on hardness/origin. Hope this helps.
