Cheap upgrades usually come with strings attached, but the prospect of a late night flight from New York (JFK) all the way to Las Vegas (LAS) motivated me to purchase an upgrade to First Class. Luckily, this move to premium only cost about $250, which is a great deal for a fairly long flight. Was it really worth it it though? Watch this trip report to find out!

First time in a long time I bought AA First for a 3.5 hour flt, wanted the first off thing, and priority TSA lane, checked baggage and a hot lunch with drinks and a comfortable seat. Econ.with checked bags vs. First was 150 dollars more. Worth it as I don't fly as much as I used to; days of coach are pretty much over for me. Smart move to pay the upgrade considering your 2 hr. delay!

Great video! For some reason even with the other amenities, seeing those seats with no IFE just makes AA feel subpar, particularly in first class.

@@BlackJezuzBaby pretty good! The food was good, the seat was comfortable, and I used the free entertainment package to watch a movie on my tablet. On the way back 3 seats were broken in 1st class, so they bumped me to an exit row in the main cabin, but gave me a $500 credit so it was all good.

Flew AA business class a few times in the last year, Cancun, Liberia and Vegas with the last in late June of this year. Comfortable, but the food was pretty poor. On one the option was a salad with no protein or a cheese and processed meat plate. Neither are what I would call a meal. The best I got was a decent turkey sandwich, the worst a veggie sandwich which literally had one slice of provolone cheese, a leaf of spinach and two sad slices of red pepper. It was as close to a bread sandwich as you could get. Very short on drinks as well. Carry two of each type of beer, and on our morning flight couldn't even give 6 of the 20 people in the cabin a mimosa before they ran out. Once again, can't complain about the comfort, and if you have your own device the lack of IFE isn't bad, but it seems lacking when it comes to the amenities/accessories.

I’m glad to see that American finally brought back hot food. Like most of the other major US carriers, they played to pandemic for as long as they could. And that was a sweet deal for only $250 extra. However, AA needs to bring back seat back IFE. Great video!❤️👍✈️

I don't know I kinda like not having IFEs because it leaves more foot space since the entertainment boxes are kinda a nucience when your 6'4 and kick your legs under the seat to stretch. At the same time I feel for families of 4 or 5 who would need to pack so much extra to entertain their children.

how accurate is this about the HOT FOOD situation? lol im looking at a $800 first class flight with AA and NEED to make 10000% SURE that this is FACTS and not just someone who got lucky that THAT specific flight had it. i have a cross country flight and would love to take 1st class if hot food is indeed a guaranteed because of the comfort of the seats as well.

Since I fly out of LAS probably 7 times a year, the priority security with first class is huge especially leaving on Sundays when TSA can be 1 1/2 hours. In DC it's much appreciated because it's a bloody shitshow as a Canadian who isn't eligible for TSA Pre.

Great Video! I'm glad you didn't completely crap on Americans personal device entertainment system. I honestly think it's pretty good, I'd much rather use my own device then on a moniter IMO. Looks like a good experience as their is no control over mother nature for delays. $350 for a first class tix on any airline is a steal 👌 I have paid double up to $850 for economy service. I wish I could score a deal that great 👍

Great video but oof what a dump of a first class product. I flew transcon on delta one and jetblue mint this past week. Even normal delta F recliners look way better than this.

I travel AA regularly out of necessity . I pretty much always go first class but am not too impressed with their customer relations. I think the "scamdemic" was simply an excuse for AA and others to cut costs on their service. If they had a business class from DFW to LAX I would opt for that instead of First. Until they get their shit together; just not worth it anymore!

$ 250 for an upgrade is not really a deal. You can ask the gate agent for an upgrade and if there's a seat and you're nice about it, they will do it for free or a lot cheaper than what you paid.
