I have been to Japan and they eat more than just Sushi. I am confused as to why they keep having them eat the same thing. Japan has the steak game on lock. Their kobe and wagyu beef literally melts in your mouth, everyone should have a chance to experience that, if you are a meat eater. Hibachi grill was not invented in America, they have plenty of those there. I just don't get it. I am cutting the ladies some slack on their disappointment with the food, because they really are not providing them with various types of Japanese cuisine. All Japanese people do not like Sushi. Nene was out of line, and very aggressive towards Tanya, it is just not called for.

I'm going to preface this by saying I love my parents to death and they are my best friends. However comma, my parents are just like Kandi, especially my dad. I can barely take him to "ethnic" restaurants. Indian: "Are there fried porkchops?" "No, Dad." Japanese: "do they have porkchops?" Lebanese: "they don't have porkchops?" French: "I wish they had prokchops." "Daddy, they do have porkchops." "Yeah, but they're not fried porkchops." I've gotten to the point I just give them dinner money and never take them out to eat anymore because they complain so much about my choices. I can't imagine how he was when he lived abroad.

I so enjoyed what you said about people who travel abroad, but refuse to immerse themselves in the culture. I've been fortunate to travel to many countries, some of which are EXTREMELY out of my comfort zone in the level of "foreignness." But, the one thing I always try to do is familiarize myself with the local customs. It's a respect thing. Watching some of the ladies show up late, complain about the food or having to remove their shoes shows a lack of world view. Newsflash: the USA isn't the end all be all. Other cultures exist, and the quote "When in Rome..." is very important to remember when CHOOSING to travel abroad. If you aren't open to trying new things or complying with other countries ways of doing things, stay home.
