In West Slovakia, born and raised,
It's the playground where I spent most of my days,
Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all cool,
Suddenly started to take Chinese classes at school.
When Jackie Chan movies that were so good,
Started to influence my adulthood,
All of a sudden, I got on the plane,
My ma got scared: "You're movin' away?!"
I replied: "Yea, China's been callin' my name."

@@User-vbhhnvgjmt True. It merely that they adapted to the environment which seems pretty smart to me. Where others saw caves, they saw opportunities.

Cool. But it brings up a related question: why do millions in America live on the street or in broken down trailer parks?
@ziren.

probably because of the Opiod/Meth epidemic.

I don't see that being related at all... America does not have nearly the history that China does, nor any sort of cave system that was used (at least once European settlers arrived) for living. However, the homeless in many big cities do live in storm drains and subway tunnels, so there's that. But still not the same, these Chinese cave homes are actual homes owned by the people dwelling in them...

" In Peking, just before the invasion of China in 1937, a Japanese army spokesman used to lecture us about the "misbehavior" of the Chinese, whom he continually exhorted to "adopt a sincere attitude" toward Japan. One day a correspondent asked the colonel to tell us exactly what he meant by a sincere attitude. Nothing loath, and with a perfectly dead-pan face, he replied, "Sincere Chinese should be humble and obedient." At the time we all thought that merely amusing, but in retrospect I realized that the Japanese had been quite in earnest. His whole feudal training and discipline as a soldier and lowly subject of the Emperor had taught him that an inferior in rank and power must practice humility and obedience to those above him. China was in such a position with regard to Japan and should behave accordingly ; otherwise she was insincere. " (Edgar Snow ,1947)

But a lot of these people can't be said to be 'poor'. Actually should be 30 million or so.

Yes, the plot of Star Wars is very similar to the founding of New China. The underground popular resistance defeated the corrupt empire and the invaders.

Yes, some day we may need these dwelling if the madness of a nuclear war. Thanks for the video showing another side of China. There is an air of ancient China here. The owner are so helpful and sincere. Good to preserve this ancient dwelling. The Chinese were ever resourceful and resilient, live with nature. West and European got no real culture. The ancient Chinese knowledge of Yin and Yang is still applicable today. There is so much the Chinese can teach the world.
