You might not know this but the U.S. invested heavily in building up capacity at the Iceland airport after Seven-Eleven in case we get another attack so the airplanes already in the air over the Atlantic would have a place to land.... and that is why we have so many cheap flights to Europe through Iceland.... before 7-11, we never hear of Iceland... The flow of money also helped propped up the economy since Iceland real estate market crashed at the time due to all the subprime loans... I am like you, I like to learn about all the background stories of the places when I travel... The European Union also invested heavily into Iceland after the real estate crash.... and Christine Lagarde also required Iceland to open up its market to tourism and other sectors and cut back social spendings in order to qualify for European fundings..... Many people say the real estate tumble was caused by Wall Street USA.. :)

Iceland feels like this tiny little place that is strategically essential for the biggest powers of the world, who keep inventing in their infrastructure and Iceland just keeps receiving the money without ever giving up too much independence...ahah I kind of like their way to benefit from unrequested help without giving much in return!

I can see why you added this rather frank exchange about Icelandic peculiarities to your video, but it would have also been interesting to know something about who these people are, and how you came to meet them, as it seems to me, that this is part of the unknown story, of which to base the context of this conversation. Likewise, there is also the untold story about the spectacular drone shots, and whether one of those tiny human figures, was actually Mary Jane! (an amazing landscape!, but where exactly are we?). I will try to find out some of this information, if possible, on your 'Patreon' site this weekend, where I will investigate this free content you're offering. Looking forward to it!... I purposely didn't give any context because I wanted to focus the attention on how Icelandic people live and make the video interesting also to an audience that is not necessarily interested in my trips or my experiences. The stories of the people and how I met them are all told in my six "Tales of Iceland" videos available on Patreon. This video was not about me, nor about what places to visit in the island, but about the people and the culture of Iceland.
