Thanks :) As for the synths used - all of the synth lines (bass, lead, pads) are coming from the two analog polysynths that I built myself. The first one is "B5" keyboard (you can see it in the lower-left part of the screen) - I played bass and strings on it. The second one is the module, which isn't visible in the video, and I'm playing it from the DX7 keyboard. Drums are from Lema EDD-5 analog drum module (it was locally made in the late '80s) and DIY analog hi-hat generator, both triggered by pads, with some additional percussion sounds added from Solton Programmer 24 (handclap) and Roland TR-626 (crash cymbal).

Hi which synths do you use?
@adamstan84 Жыл бұрын
Hi, All synth sounds are from my two DIY analog polysynths. One is the keyboard one (that weird combo-organ keyboard at the bottom) - it has 5 voices with Moog filters - it does bass, strings and noise bursts. The second one is 6 voice module (not shown) with 12dB filters, trigerred from DX7 - it does leads (switched to mono mode). Drums are from simple analog drum brain called EDD-5. It was made in Poland in late '80s. I also played crash cymbal from Roland TR626 and handclap from Solton Programmer.

Brawo.

@adamstan848 жыл бұрын
@Fredcyran8 жыл бұрын

Please, what is the synth sound from the song's begining? Great job man!!!
@adamstan843 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) The sound in the beginning is quite typical analog string sound. If I remember correctly, it was made by layering sawtooth on VCO A with PWM on VCO B, and sawtooth oscillator has a bit of fast vibrato applied to it.

@seeyouintheeighties6 жыл бұрын
love it - how do you make the lead?
@adamstan846 жыл бұрын
Which one? If I remember correctly, the one on the solo is pretty simple sawtooth+square lead, with a little bit of lowpass filtering, and the oscillators slightly detuned. The one that is used in the background is squarewave with triangle above (two octaves? Or octave and a fifth? I can't remember now) and heavy vibrato - basically combo-organ-like sound. Strings are sawtooth+PWM.
@seeyouintheeighties6 жыл бұрын
sorry I should have been more descriptive - the main sequence right at the beginning that runs through the whole track. I love it just trying to work out how to make it.
@adamstan846 жыл бұрын
Ah, this is, as I said, just pretty typical analog string patch. It's made by combining sawtooth and square with PWM.

I can't understand, if a cover is identical to the original song, then what the heck is the purpose of the cover? Should a successful cover song not contain some unique variant of the original while still keeping the essence of what makes the original good, introducing some unique element into it? Can anyone explain to me why you would want to make a cover that is 100% identical to the original, when I can just go and listen to the original and get the same thing?
@adamstan845 жыл бұрын
For the fun of doing it ;) "Reverse engineering" the song and then trying to recreate it yourself with your equipment is simply fun for me (and educational as well). As for listeners - there are people like you, who prefer innovative covers, but there are also people who like covers that are close to original, even if it might seem pointless. Also, it's not 100% :P
