@@peterkanyi yeah,our defense looks leaky at the moment, but not dead. They just have to read the game. All of them watches the ball with no awareness of where opposition is. That's criminal. At least one of Rb or Lb should keep eye on any runner while others defend. If possible pin down a particular player just as tuchel system does.

Wonder how many people commenting on all the videos actually watched the game. Lot of positives. Hardly a performance receiving the backlash its getting. Little bit more quality in the final third to finish off plenty of good moves from the back would see it different. Badiashile played fine, no worse than any one else. Bit lazy on the goal but compared to how many walk-backs from Noni after losing the ball? The build up play leading to the goals all came from the right hand side where was Reece was getting creamed, especially first half. Madrid at times had a lot of time on the ball in midfield to pick passes and quick 1-2s to open us up, which results in us running back toward our own goal. Better pressure in midfield and overall better defensive shape cuts that out. Cause and effect. Caicedo and KDH brought better legs and positioning when they came on. I think this system really dampens Reece's and Gusto's natural effect on games, assuming Cucu comes in as the inverted LB. Gusto's playing well out of position tbf and think his legs would be wasted at RCB but I reckon he has to be in the starting 11. Thought Fofana looked more solid in RCB than Reece today after he came on but by then Vini was already subbed off. The tricky thing is working out who's playing in midfield. Someone's going to miss out. Personally I think Palmer would be better suited to one of the 10 roles rather than the RW, based on the positions they find themselves in this system. Noni looks promising in the RW, if he can get his right foot into it to be a little less predictable, he will score and assist a lot. Jackson in either ST or LW I think will improve the look and feel of the starting 11 100%. Nkunku has to start, probably best in the 10 role as well, but could see him in ST or LW to make room for someone else in midfield.

I still strongly believe that Enzo Maresca will deliver but the boys needs to quickly adapt and adjust to the pattern and philosophy of the coach. We may not be to impressive this season, obviously next season Chelsea fans will start enjoying the feel of Enzo Maresca football. All we need to do as true Chelsea fans is to be a little bit patient Rome wasn't built in a day. Not even Pep Guardiola delivered in his first season with the Citizens. Enzo Maresca work on your defense. Todd Boehly give us a deathly striker like Victor Osimhen who can put pressure on defenders until they committee foul or mistakes. With Victor Osimhen chelsea will stew.

6 observations • Although they both have their shortcomings: Jørgensen > Sanchez • If we're serious about playing out from the back let's see more of our ball playing CBs in Badiashile & Colwill vs Inter. • Enzo's still got it (Eye for a pass) • We still need a no.1 Striker (#9🇳🇬). We look so incomplete without one. • My main positives for the whole tour were Lavia, Guiu & Nkunku getting minutes & not getting injured. • The product wasn't worth the £4.99s they had people paying

Lavia is soo good with the ball in his feet but his defensive game off the ball is soo poor. Not covering areas , not putting in tackles( may be hesitant bcos of his injury issues), going forward way too many times which oftn leads to counterattacks ... It was evident as caicedo came on in the second half he was solid in front of the three centr backs. Thats why caicedo should always start in that role. Maybe lavia can play alongside caicedo but with gusto/cucu inverting i dont think maresco will play em together..

From what I am seeing, this Chelsea team is not as bad as other people are viewing it to be. We have a new coach who has not even spent much time with the players,he is bringing a new system and style of playing and most of the boys are very young and have not yet used to each other on the pitch. I am optimistic that they will improve going forward. We only have to patient and not put them under unnecessary pressure

If this is chelsea's main defending team for next season, i really am a bit worry. Yes, this is friendly match. But they are all pro players. They will still give their all even in friendly match, especially againts a team like madrid. Remember, the results of this pre-season matches might determine whether they get a spot on regular starting 11 or not. And most of the defenders are old members as well, not a new signing. Just hope they could coordinate better when the season starts. And please.... pretty please..... get a real striker ASAP. I believe that's the most crucial position this team need right now.

If Angelo was playing as an attacking 8 in this game, he would have created a lot more chances for our forwards, and make the midfield tick. I also think Maresca should have played Enzo deeper and Lavia in the no.8 instead, but hopefully as time goes on Maresca would see the strengths and weaknesses of each player and play them in positions where their strengths actually lies, for the benefit of the team. This would have been my starting 11 for this game (3-5-2): Nkunku. Guiu. Chilwell. Angelo. Lavia. Gusto. Enzo. Colwill. Fofana. James. Jorgensen.

I think its the fact that some of the players didn’t understand were to be out of position when defending to cut passing lines it was easy at times for real madrid to just break the lines alot of that comes down to fitness they still look miles of the pace and one thing i know is maduekes attitude is disgusting sell him his not even it to have attitude like that zero tracking back or desire to close down out of possession pre season you put in that work to get those fitness levels up
