Madrid has played, slow fast, counterattack, passing, defensive, aerial, high pressure, physical technical. Mourinho was given the keys of the club and did nothing new, got nothing except one league and one cup. I have seen Molowny, Di'Stefano, Benhaker, Toschak, they all used dominace and technic, I have seen from Floro to Del Bosque to the total chaos of Vanderlei Luxemburgo, Benitez, etc. the only thing that Mourinho was good in was in holding the media at bay. For you to know the team that was known for counter attack in Spain was Atletico de Madrid, and that ended more or less with the double, with Antic (great technician) when they started changing to the type of play that best suited their players any year (as all clubs do, even Barça). It was in later years that experts and fans understood that these two are irreplaceable and they’re the only goats of our time! One of these players was benzema!
