I feel for Chelsea - unusually - because they gave it such a good go. The Bernabeu is a cruel place to be attempting such comebacks, as Bayern in 2017 and Juventus in 2018 found. You can have the game under control but then Real with the quality of their players manage to find 1-2 goals. Tuchel showed some great thinking to cover the weaknesses seen a week ago. Without Jorginho and Ziyech Chelsea move the ball so much faster and incisively. On the other hand Ancelotti is still not learning his lesson about using Kroos and Modric simultaneously given their age, he needs to use the German more sparingly. When Camavinga came on he reinvigorated the Madrid midfield and he is no slouch at passing the ball either.

It was really unlike of Tuchel who would have making tactical changes when they were leading 3 nil with 15mins remaining, but instead he kept the team to look for the 4th killer goal and instead got punished. Madrid go through undeservedly so. I am a Madrid fan, and have been so since that Zizou goal in the final, but this win will just convince Florentino everything he is doing is correct. This team needs investment and youth. Chelsea had more of the ball, but ran 6 km more than Madrid. They ran their socks off. They had almost twice as many attacks (not shots) as Madrid. The only thing that got Madrid through was individual brilliance, which confirms why we have one of the lowest xGs among the top teams. You've got to admire Benzema's leadership in the attack. When playing big teams, Real Madrid is so insecure at the back that they are too afraid to press high up. We saw the same thing during our game with Barcelona and that strategy was a disaster. Benzema constantly fuelled that energy into the attack and that helped greatly.

Of course it does help that they can rely on the individual brilliance of Modric, Benz, and Vini. Other than that, Chelsea COMPLETELY dominated them. Man City will walk past them easily.

@@mahershadid8585 not really this entire thing was Ancelotti fault for not actually being a good manager in this situation. He came in with a game plan to not sub until the 70th minute regardless of what was going on. Ancelotti decided to play kroos which allowed Chelsea to dominate the midfield with physical dominance. If he learns anything he will make changes earlier because that was suicidal and I’m sure if we had lost Perez maybe would’ve allowed him to finish the season but he would’ve made it known that he was thru and shopping around for a new coach. Also all of the mistakes came from nacho’s defensive mistakes eder militao would be playing not nacho. Also the second goal came from a non existent corner. But hey rules right? And you’re right they create a ton but again it came from nachos lackluster performance and the midfield needing to come back and provide support and inability to play from the back that came from it. We will not get bullied like that with Eder there

When Chelsea crossed the ball into Real's box, they won duels and created dangerous moments. Chelsea should simply do more crosses after taking off Nacho and playing Carvajal as a center-back. Each time they did, they created clear chances. Chelsea was great overall but two things were not right: 1. Taking Werner off and replacing him with Pulisic instead of Mount (Pulisic failed to score two clear chances within the 90 minutes). There was no guarantee Werner could score those chances, but in this match, Werner was better than Mount in general and Mount was tired. 2. Failure to cross the ball enough. As we saw, after Carvajal was promoted to center back, they tried so hard not to let Chelsea cross the ball into the box. In the first leg as well, Thiago Silva won the duals almost every time and won the header.

What a match!! The intensity, the hunger from both teams was absolutely amazing. Chelsea lost the ticket in Stamford Bridge, a bitter pill to swallow but their brilliant performance has earned them absolute forgiveness from their fans. A typical CL Final type of match.
