Ah yes, de Joinville is a classic among first-hand accounts of the Middle Ages, including moments where it really shows high medieval combat in comparatively astonishing detail. I also want to point out that even though this video is quite extensive, it is still a series of excerpts rather than the whole book. I also like how he roasts the King's headgear within the first paragraph.

I often find myself questioning where you find the wonderful first hand accounts of history and how it seems unreal at times. Also you have a wonderful consistency from episode to episode. I could go on but, suffice it to say that I’m very happy to have such a wonderful channel to enjoy. Please keep up the great work from Adrian in Canada.

@northsidebtown701217 сағат бұрын
We don’t bro
@FredericoMirandaBrandaoAlves17 сағат бұрын
The Gregorian calendar is an adaptation of an older calendar. The change is slight: the pope noticed that there is an offset between the rotation of Earth around itself and the revolutions of Earth around the Sun. One ring that the Earth makes around the sun (annum, year) isn't exactly 365 days, so every four hundred years the extra day of February should not be added. That's the change added to it.
@tacla17 сағат бұрын
You made me look it up; he was probably using the Julian calendar, which was similar but different to the gregorian by .03456 or some bs decimal so if the knight said 1248 it was likely using the Julian and its just off by a bit
@DiederikCA17 сағат бұрын
Isn't the difference between the gregorian and Julian calenders only like 13 days in 2000 years?
@unicorn1234517 сағат бұрын
