awe i remember the first few days with my first. so sweet! and you're right you don't even know what to do as a first time mom.. lol however since I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and have a little more experience now compared to back then , I wanted to tell you things I WISH people would have told me. 1. keep day light bright as possible, and night time dark... aka try and do night feeds with little light. or laying down(OMG makes breast feeding soo much easier.) 2. put a lot of diaper cream on before bed. A little pee in a diaper is ok. I was one of those first time parents that thought you had to change a diaper the moment it gets wet or the moment your baby wakes up. and no you don't want your child sitting in a dirty diaper, but if its not a lot of pee at night time with diaper cream it will be ok. trust me on this one, it'll cut those long feedings in half and hell go right back to sleep a lot easier without being messed with so much. 3. SLEEP GOWNS! and the love me sleep/ swaddle. = LIFE changing.. go buy it now, seriously.. now. 4. don't wake a sleeping baby! do this for your sanity. If your baby isn't severely underweight its perfectly normal and ok for the baby to sleep 3 even sometimes 4 hour stretches. and that means YOU SLEEP 3-4 hours stretches!! and this is major key for recovering and happy momma=happy baby. He'll most likely have a longer feed when he wakes or cluster feed through out the day to keep up. i hope this helps, I had to stop half way through.. now I'm gonna finish the video.. Good luck momma.. and remember you just had a baby. It's ok to say no to visitors, its ok to ask for help, its ok to cry when overwhelmed, its ok to need a break, its ok to feel the deepest love you've ever known and emotional. Give yourself grace, take it slow.. slow slow slow.

Jasmine Kaney oh my goodness thank you!!!!! That was all actually really helpful! I do like asking moms questions and learning bc I’ve never done this before! I’ve found some are like “my way or no way” and i don’t like that kinda advice. But yours was all so great!!! Someone else told me about day/night lighting and that made total sense! We didn’t do that at all in the beginning!!! The diaper thing I’m that way after every change I thought he had to be clean at all times. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ and yes now 1 month out, I have my ideas on “waking him” so then at 5 days old I’m glad we woke him bc we needed too his weight wasn’t good. Even still his weight isn’t good :( I’m looking forward to when he finally gets up there and better. He’s lost weight and docs are concerned so we keep going back to appts frequently. I think we’ve finally got something going for the better right now! We make sure he eats every 2-3 hours during the day depending if he’s sleeping or not, just to get the milk in him. And then at night we no longer wake him. (When he finallllly hit his birth weight our doc told us we could stop waking him at night time) just last night he had a 5 hours stretch! 🙌🏼 he will get there... we are working with him to get better!

@AlyssaHeaster4 жыл бұрын
Sasha S yeah, that’s what I’ve learned now since then ❤️ he was loosing weight at that time and not up to birth weight yet, so we were advised to wake him still. And even so now at his 1 month appt today he’s lost weight since his last appt two weeks ago ;:(

Lys Heaster they’ll lose at first, with breastfeeding. But if it’s not a substantial amount, I wouldn’t be concerned. 💜
@iamwithhim14344 жыл бұрын
In the beginning they need to be woken up because their sugar can’t sustain on their own. But after 6-8 weeks they can.
@crystalsky10294 жыл бұрын
Keeping an Open mind that’s really not true at all. They check their blood sugar at the hospital. Unless they’re premature or there is concern about their weight/blood sugar to begin with, you do not need to wake a sleeping baby.
@iamwithhim14344 жыл бұрын
CrystalBee ok well I was educated a different way then. As I understand it for the first month or so baby’s do need to be woken to be breastfed. There are many things to consider why but hey if you are comfortable not doing so good luck. For me and my two girls who I exclusively breastfed that’s what I felt most comfortable doing. But I also had them co-sleeping with me so it wasn’t hard or inconvenient.

Girl after I had my baby (via c-section) I was soooo thankful for those over sized pads they give you in the hospital. The ones that pretty much cover your entire front and back like a diaper. Because being in labor for o we 18+ hours with all of the fluids they were giving me, I peed myself like 3 times in the hospital evasive I was in so much pain I could t get out of bed fast enough and make it to the bathroom in time. I will be a first time mother in August 2020. I’m so nervous, I’m the youngest child of 3. I’ve never even been around babies!! I am so nervous to say the least. I don’t know baby routines or anything. This is such a true video, you are doing great. Our motherly instincts just kick in, it’s natural..
@AlyssaHeaster4 жыл бұрын
Yes! You will do so good with your baby! My son is the first baby I have been around myself.

Ik this is not as recent of a video but your son is precious! I have 2 kids my daughter just turned 10 months and my son is 2 yrs. I miss them being this little except for waking up so often during the day but its so worth it. Way to go Mama! I remember going through this stuff especially hurting when I peed in recovery it was soo bad. I love how real this is. Birth and recovery is SO hard! Especially emtionally omg.

This is so relatable. I am also not giving formula to my baby ( although it’s easy method to get some rest) and every nurse suggested that breast milk is the best for babies. We are also first time parents, parents couldn’t come and our nights are exactly the same. You did so good!

You are doing great. It’s so hard being a new mama. My baby is 1 now and I’m also a younger mama. Will be 25 in June 😱 I remember the first few nights. I would just sit and cry because I couldn’t figure out what was going on. I exclusively pumped for an entire year. My son decided he didn’t want to latch after week 1 so I pumped every 3 hours and bottle fed. My milk supply increased sooo much by doing that. 🤷♀️ and breast milk is good for 6 hours out at room temperature (fresh from pumping) so it was amazing being able to sleep for longer than 3 hours. Your doing great though! You do whatever is best for little man. They used to say breast is best now Fed is best. 😁
@AlyssaHeaster4 жыл бұрын
Miranda Denman yes 💙 fed is best! I had bee exclusively breast feeding, but grand would give a bottle of my milk in the middle on the night to let me sleep
@AlyssaHeaster4 жыл бұрын
But he has lost more weight, so the past two days I’ve just pumped and given him bottles of my milk. How did you sleep more than 3 hours? Sorry I’m not following that part and I wanna know ❤️❤️
@mirdalynn74634 жыл бұрын
So I pumped every 3 hours on the dot. And I had a oversupply of milk so in the beginning I would double pump and sit there for a sold 15 mins no matter if I was producing any milk or not into the bottle. So I would get 4 ounces-5 ounces total from that pump session. I would give baby and bottle to daddy and say goodnight 😆 no really even if it was during the day and I needed to sleep if I had enough milk pumped to take a longer nap I would totally do it. And my son also had his days and nights mixed up too. I will tell you what helped us was a good sound machine and the “halo” sleep sacks. They literally were a life saver!! I got mine from kohl’s. They have all different sizes as well so they can use them longer. 🤷♀️🙏 I hope this helps! But for real. Your doing great. It’s extremely scary and overwhelming in the beginning. My aunt told me “the scariest hood you’ll ever go through is parenthood” 😂 and boy is that true.

Try anti-colic bottles and gently massage the baby’s stomach with some oil, will help release the gas that is irritating the baby. Hope this works for you 💗

i asked my nurse at the hospital i mentioned the saying and they say, that your suppose to wake newborns up to a certain point as they dont jnow theyre actually hungry and wont wake up, my LO is a little over a month old and my doctor said i can feed on demand but never pass 5 hrs 😪😪 so now i have a hard time getting him to sleep longer than 3 hrs at a time

Yes 💓 I totally agree now and feel confident in that 100%! we woke him up for a while until our doc said we didn't need to because he was up to birth weight. thank you for that comment 💘

@AlyssaHeaster4 жыл бұрын
oh yes you need those frozen padsickles! So nice! bit.ly/2YgOo1z and bit.ly/3cWqqN7. I used both of these, but I used the first far longer! If you have pressure after you give birth, sit on your boppy pillow! It helps relieve pressure off down there! So nice
@laurenbernard40604 жыл бұрын
thank you so much!!! I made the padsicles the other day and I’m so excited to try them out! And perfect thank you i will try the boppy pillow for that! I love your channel, it’s great information for first time mamas who have no idea what they’re doing like myself😂
