Bangkok shopping malls are on a whole different level - the shopping centers they have seem to be on every other corner and every single BTS station. Our last Bangkok vlog around shopping was in 2017 and we got lots of hate, kind of understandably because we were new to the old travel vlog and KZbin we misslabeled it.
Today we revisit MBK Center to get a feel for how much things in Thailand have cracked down on the shopping mall fake scene. Turns out things are a lot more strict than they used to be!
Compare MBK Mall to Siam Center shops and you've got a whole different scene. Siam Paragon is stunning, classy and elegant - not our scene at all haha.

Me and my girlfriend have been there! We fought for food in the food courts. MBK's food court was OK, but god, that Siam's food court was packed with a lots of people, it felt like there was no air to breathe in there. But, still those shopping malls were great experience!

I was literally at the same shopping center about a week ago! The Thais love their presentation...I love how there are so many varieties of stores and shops but it gets pretty repetitive once you've been to one. Have yall gone to Terminal 21?! It's a pretty unique mall.

MBK is owned by Chulalongkorn University. If you show your student ID in the shops, you get a 15% discount. In January 2019, the national police made a huge sweep on items that were trademark violations.

The pollution in Bangkok has been quite bad the last few weeks. I was there a couple of weeks ago and there were reports out that it was the worst it's been in some time. We ended up with a bit of a sore throat. We had also just come from India which had bad pollution as well. I ended up getting a mask to help when I was outside walking in it.

Have you guys been to Icon Siam (on the other side of the river)? It has a pretty insane food court and awesome views of the city from its rooftop bar. Movie theater is next level too.

Right on, there's very little content on the malls in BKK, so it isn't known for it. I find it funny since there's literally almost one mall at every stop of the bright green BTS line. Also, upper scale malls like Embassy, Emquartier, and Icon are a lot less crowded than Paragon.

Ha ha I know that "lost the plot" felling that only a couple of hours in a shopping mall can induce! The internet was made for "non-shoppers" like me :) Loved your blooper on that first visit - had me laughing out loud! We visited a few malls in Kolkata last year and found prices for most things were at a European level, but the air con provided a welcome relief from the heat and humidity outside. In India at least, if you are with people that know the the place (like my sisters in law) then some amazing bargains can be had from the shops on the streets. I guess Bangkok must be similar.

Bangkok - City of My Dreams: just returned a couple weeks ago.sorry to disappoint your other sub who said “Good news, the air is all better.” Uh no, it is definitely NOT all better. There is no escaping the constant exhaust from the years of constant 24\7 vehicle emissions- it will make you sick. Especially in Sukhumvit area!!! Nothing but vehicles and malls! Very much recommend face masks! Seeing them much more often now than ever before. Re your saying “Oh somebody is just gonna say ‘Oh please’ and log off...I was gonna just write “Oh please!” as a joke, but then you showed the delightful 3 pink pigs floating on top of each other, and well....that was SO Bangkok I had to keep watching! 💞💞💞💞💞

Do they still have the "Beauty-Facial-Massage"floor @ MBK...? I stumbled into that and (as a dude), never had a facial before... Holy shit! I had the one of the best experiences, one lady on the left arm- one on the right arm and one giving a facial with hot towels, cold cucumbers, vacuum treatment... crazy!

I love MBK. Barter barter barter!! It's quite fun. I bought two fake Mens RADO watches, no scratch surfaces, still working 3 years on. Had to buy my sister 2 bags..Bally and Bottega? Just asked for them, they were not on display told to buy Korean copy as much better 😯😂 The shop assistant was a lot of fun, bargained hard so got them for nearly half price. She threw my money on the floor for the first sale of the day and to bring luck. Off topic - Guys, thanks for your tips on Krakow, it wasn't the same being -11C and a shit load of snow but you just drank and ate more. The apartment was awesome. Two bedrooms with kitchen / balcony £26 a night, crazy.

I keep hearing about how hot it is in Bangkok but in your video I saw people with jackets outside riding the motorbikes. How hot would you say an average day is over there? I have been to Iraq before and the temp was 120 F. It was so how it hurt. The shade was like 90 F and that felt cool. It was more dry heat so not really that bad.

Jacket is for protecting skin from the sun, not for getting warm. If you see big number on the no sleeve jacket, it is the uniform for motorbike taxi driver.

I know its an old video but just an FYI for anyone watching in 2020 all the "Designer" Handbags/Bags and stuff are mostly on the ground floor where the McD's and Starbucks are (or 1st floor as I've noticed in Thailand - its ground floor for me, as I'm a Brit haha) Has been like that for a couple of years now....all floors upwards are mostly clothing and souvenir clobber till you get to the tech floor. But they are constantly upgrading the interior so it may change again. Happy Shopping (Once COVID-19 decides to cancel its world tour and tourists can visit again of course) :-)

The fakes are still available but now you have to ask, and the vendors are quite wary. Some stalls have hidden rooms at the rear of the unit where you can view copy Gucci, LV, Dior, etc. And some of the smaller clothing stalls have copy t-shirts, belts, etc. available hidden at the bottom of piles of stock.

Daneger and Stacey You should go to wat bavornniwet near khaosan road. Many Thai kings stay at this temple when they were monk. Now, there are a lot of high level monks in wat bavorn. Not many tourist know about this place.

Yeah never buy at the first place :) I got some in ear Bluetooth earbuds when I was there and I went to about 8 stores and bargained with each of them and was able to get them for a good price. 3 of the stores wouldn't even go as low as the price I ended up getting them for. Also use online Thai websites for price comparison which you can show to the shop owners as well if they are trying to sell at a marked up price.

If u go to the shop that have genuine trademark, you'll have a real thing. But if u go the reseller one esspecially in the small shop, more than 80% is totally fake. The fake item has its grade such as A, B or Mirror grade. If u found mirror-grade one, u can't detect at first glance that it's a fake. So please be careful. Ps. High grade shopping mall such as Siam Paragon or Icon Siam has less fake thing (or maybe zero) compare with cheaper mall such as MBK that has many many resellers which sell many fake brand name items.

Daneger and Stacey oh I did 😂 and they sucked. I think they made us try the real ones and sold us the fake ones. So we exchanged them for other stuff instead 🙈
