All this sounds fine on paper. But few people know that corruption, discrimination and social, caste and religious bias is rampant in the army. I am recounting the experience of some senior army officers who were harassed during their service. From the outside the army sounds very cozy, but inside, there are a lot of problems when it comes to selection and promotions. It is like the local government service. The more powerful you are the chances are better for you.

Thank you. You have had very little exposure as as an army ''brat'' to the realities inside the army. Nobody talks inside the army. I am also an army ''brat'' from the 1950s. My father told me many things. As for the ''corrupt'' army officers, the less said the better. The army discipline in the civilian set up does not work. When everyone is rich and dishonest, a little bit of indiscipline can make a person very wealthy. Have you ever heard of a retired army officer asking for a bribe? in the armd forces the highest pay benefits and the quick promotions and other facilities are being given to those who are selected as an officer in the armd forces than the commissioned officers in civil administrative services. But in the armd forces those who are enrolled as a soldier there is very few pay allowances and pensionery benefits and other facilities rather than officer and very slow promotion. in the fifteen year of services Naik is promoted to havaldar rank and hav is promoted to jco rank on the ninteen years of service

There is nothing known as free service in the defence.Their day starts at 5.30a.m in the morning with P.T and no fixed time for ending the day.They serve in very difficult areas like Siachen and disturbed areas like J&K and North East.They go searching for militants in the middle of the night.They sacrifice their family life and all comforts.So friend nothing is free they have earned it.

they don't join Army postal service, they come on deputation to Army in Army Postal Service. They are civilian Group B officers and not Group A Officers and they get Group B pay scale. If they come on deputation to the army then they have the option to draw an equivalent pay scale of military service.

My Father was a docto r in u.p.and served there 14 years and that time he was earning app.Rs2000 per month. In 1962 war he joined army on Rs400 Pay per month.We were three brothers and one sister of the age from 06 years to 12 years and we were hand to mouth and our financial condition was very poor,but to serve the nation he chose the army and served 17 years upto his retirement very happily.

HRA is not given to every officer. Basic + MSP + DA is common to every officer in that particular Rank. Allowances depends upon place of posting and plz overall include Income Tax also

Wow, when the salary is that good then why someone is going to speak against the Govt. , Against Agniveer. Stand for the future Soldiers. Now I understand why top ay officials don't speak against it rather support it. They also has the fear of losing the job and pension too. If Army has a budget problem then reduce the salaries of top officials to half and 1/4 or 1/6 in some cases and cut the pensions of them too as they have earned a tonne all these years, they and their families don't come down to roads but why should somebody leave their part of rabdi for others and all these years I was thinking about joining Army and dying for the country.
