To be fair, my family was told that by locals in Florida when we vacationed there in 1973 .. no internet and didn't seem like the right time to find a library. I don't know, I was 5. The second bit of advice, and the one my family chose to use. Was vinegar filled by meat tenderizer, which was hilarious to a5 year old. My sister, the one stung, was not a amused.

Eh, it's not that gross, yes it's strange but knowing that urine is ultra filtered blood plasma - "Urotherapy" is not that strange of a concept as it is an ancient method of treating all kinds of medical problems including to be proven to cure cancer. My friends and family who work in the medical field see this pee scenario so much in the summer months. They blame that one 'Friends' episode, lol. Tip: If you don't have warm water available immediately, scrape lightly over the inflammation with something like a credit card. It can remove the majority of stingers.
