Hi there I just discovered your channel. Maybe too late as you’ve stopped drawing. Hope you can post coloring videos like this every once in a while. You’ve awakened such a passion in me. I just bought all the colored pencils and materials you recommended. Very excited. Thanks so much. Hope to see you post some colored pencil videos every now and then. There are still people out there who will appreciate it!

Your techniques is awesome. After your Morgan Freeman drawing, I was hooked on you channel. You have such a subtle eye for the nuances in color. I watch you to train my eye on those subtleties. Keep up the good work, and don't be so hard on yourself.

You are super patient and accurate! What paper and pencils are you using here? You are one of the best color pencil hyperrealism artists ever. Absolutely inspiring! I am curious if you use multiple color pencil brands in a drawing, and other mediums in your drawings ( mixed media )... like pen, airbrush, paint, etc.? When I draw... I am thinking that maybe my prismacolor pencils might not be as saturated/ vibrant/ or as dark as my reference photos... so now I am trying to combine other media into my art to create those darks or brights. Like I may use an airbrush with black createx illustration colors paint or alcohol markers to create my darkest areas, etc.. And I use neon pencils ( Prismacolor, and cra-z-art brand are what I have ) to add more vibrance and saturation into my drawings. I also am using Derwent inktense colored pencils over my prismacolor pencils to add more intensity. Do you use gamsol to blend? How do you make fine white lines? Do you erase your whites or draw them on? Or do you use blades? I draw mine on. The fine white lines I usually make with a calligraphy pen and Dr. Ph Martin's Bombay india ink in white. I am curious to know your opinion on all of this and what you use/ do please. Thank you! Your artworks are very inspiring!

Hello! Currently, my tools of choice are Faber-Castell Polychromos and Caran d'Ache pencils. While I've experimented with mixed media in the past, it's been a while since I last used it. I'm open to exploring it again sometime in the future. Regarding your reference material, it's essential for me to view it to understand specific areas you're referencing. If printing the reference is an option for you, try reducing its saturation before printing. This adjustment helps make the colors more compatible with Prismacolor pencils. Also, a word of caution: using a display screen as a reference can be challenging and may not yield accurate results without substantial experience, there is a change this might be causing the problem.(I'm not sure of your experience or skill level, so this might not be a problem for you.) :) I'm not familiar with using Gamsol for blending. As for creating fine white lines, my usual technique involves allowing the white of the paper to show through. This approach works well, especially if the paper itself is white. Alternatively, I finely sharpen a Polychromos pencil and use it to gently draw thin white lines. Well, that took about 30 years to write out. I now have a beard.

@@Neeyellowart Thank you soooo much for your reply! Really honored to get the chance to talk with you about art! Really amazing and impressive that you use the white of the paper as your white colored areas! That takes a lot of accuracy, and probably very light layers of pencils to show transparency. I really love using gamsol. I just dip a Q tip cotton swab barely into a tiny container of gamsol and I gently blend ( light areas first, then darker areas) of the colored pencil colored areas on my paper. The gamsol turns the pencil into a liquid and blends it. It looks more saturated/ vibrant, and also fills the tiny pore texture of the paper with color, giving it a more hyperrealistic look. Let the areas dry before going over them again with pencils ( or the paper could rip ). You can do more layers of pencil and gamsol on top of it, if you want to. Gamsol is my favorite blender, aside from the prismacolor white pencil... which is also wonderful for blending. I love prismacolor, polychromos, and luminance colored pencils. I draw mostly with prismacolor pencils, although I am liking adding mixed media. Thank you for all of your great tips and advice! I really appreciate it. You are such an amazing artist!!!!!!!!!!
