Wait a second. So the European man-purse existed way before our century?

I’m just not sure that set in sleeves are historically accurate. Because of the width of looms most fabric had to be pieced to make garments and set in sleeves didn’t come about until much later in history.

@@bethwood765 sorry, but no. Because you find a similar pattern with curved set in sleeves for example at the Lendbreen Tunic, the Moselund Tunic and at the Fragment H57 from hedeby. And the limited width of the looms is a long disproven legend.

@a-papst-production1442 жыл бұрын

The bone needle looks wrong. It's too thick to be practical and would damage the material quickly. It would also fall out. Better to use a penannular broach.
@a-papst-production14424 күн бұрын
The bone needle is made after a original from hedeby. If you turn it carefully into the fabric you do not damage it. That's tested by myself ;-) It doesn't fall out either, because the threads pushed aside hold it tight. After useing you can rearange the threads by stretching the fabric diagonaly or leave the little holes for the next time. Some people also wraping a thin string around the neadle to hold it in place.
