I have a rental Corolla sedan here in the US right now Its base model and bare bones. But its pretty solid However the biggest flaw is being a sedan. The roof is so close to my head. And the rear head room is fairly bad. The car is really low and hard for my dad to get into. And the body is so unnecessarily low that I already hit something while going up a driveway. Sedans are only meant for prisitne flat welll funded roads. Nothing else. Every time I get into a modern sedan it becomes very apparent why CUVs have taken over. The proportions are just easier to live with for most CUVs. Some of them suck of course. I believe it has the 2.0 engine and gets about 36 mpgs. Which is good to me because Im use to 17 mpgs lol. Its not as slow as I thought it would be and handles well. I dont mind the CVT. I feel like im fighting the geared automatic gearbox in my personal car normally. Even though by American standards its small. I think its a good size car. But its proportions make it impractical. The wagon version looks a lot more useful. I hope they increased head room.

Yea the 2.0 is a much better car in my opinion as I’ve driven both now only had 40 mins with the 2.0 so couldn’t make a video unfortunately.

@turbosoul164 Personally I don't think any car no matter the size should have a engine smaller than 2.0 😅

@ hah that’s fair enough. In the uk tho having a 1.0 can be fun hah on are back roads . I have a 0.9 car as well that’s fun .

So what do you hate about the cvt ? Is it the noise under exceleration ? As I underdtand it , it settles down when you get up to speed. You might just have a heavy right foot.

Yes I don’t like the noise when accelerating and I drive in central London and to get into places you need to put your foot down otherwise a spot will close so I just don’t like the sound of it and I hate how it just Revs out other than that I think The Car is amazing

The eCVT in it It's not like a conventional CVT transmission. Think about it as a differential mechanism between the engine and electric motor. It delivers to the wheels what's the difference between those two. It has no clutches, nothing is engaging or disengaging, no changes in its geometry (no moving belt). The concept is super old (60's or 70's I guess) but it needed time to be practically implemented. It has undergone many improvements and has proven its reliability (since the very first Prius). This is the best you can have if you care about economy and reliability. I chose 1.8 because: + no turbo ( it's not needed as you have electric motor to accelerate ) + Atkinson cycle ( same reason as above ) + port injection ( washes valves, cleaner combustion which is no GPF issues , cheap and reliable - 2.0 has port + direct ) + lower compression ratio ( compared to 2.0 - less stress on the engine ) + no gearbox ( just the eCVT "differential mechanism" ) To this day, even some automotive journalists confuse eCVT with CVT.

Well that’s for all that . I’m not a car journalist by any means just a guy having some fun so at least I’ve learnt something about my car today thanks

Is tbis staion heavier than the sedan version?

I believe it is

The Civic E:Hev has a similar mpg, comfort, ect... And a better gearbox. Although it's very expensive, maybe a replacement when they get more common and affordable. Or a Jazz (also expensive). I have the 2.0 version (2023). The CVT doesn't bother me that much, but I can understand the dislike. Also, the 122 bhp version is probably more aggressive in that regard. I really like the car, but I'm not picky. Reliability, economy, and space (the Touring version) in that order. The rest, whatever. A Dacia Jogger Hybrid would have done the trick for less I suppose.

So I drove a 2024 the other day a 2,0 and the gearbox on that feels less struggling, so maybe it has improved
