I was mowing the field with at the riding school. The grass was ~30cm high and had to be cut back to 7cm. The time limit was around 40 minutes. It was raining and I only had the Knight OFS1. To make a long story short; it was so bad that I got to roughly 61% and my mower broke. I actually finnished the job with the strimmer. It took me a grand total of over 90 minutes but I finished the job.

15:20 Fun fact. Many electric cars do actually have a "single-pedal mode" that enables full-power lift-off regenerative braking so that you can use the "throttle" pedal to both accelerate and brake. Hydraulic brakes are then only needed to completely stop and/or stay stopped (motors not spinning = no regen = no braking).

As someone who has cut grass before for an odd job, you do not ever want to cut grass that is too tall with a super low blade. You will clog everything with grass and leave behind giant grass clumps that have to raked, or else you burn the grass. So you put the blade up to its highest and carefully lower it each time you go over an area. It's a lengthy process, but you will then not have to rake grass up afterwards lol.

The orange lawn mower in the title screen looks like a character out of cars with the van doors as eyes 🤣
@Pystro3 жыл бұрын
One thing i just realized: In the game, the only reason to pre-mow ridiculously long lawn (at your max blade height) is so that you can full-speed it later without your mower overheating. But on this lawn, your mower stayed at about half the allowable temperature. That means you pre-mowed too much - or in other words, could have gotten away with pre-mowing less of the lawn. The best way to do that would be to do stripes roughly perpendicular to the final direction and leaving some gaps in between them - or you could go crazy and draw some patterns into the grass.

@slg27713 жыл бұрын
@@StapleCactus That's interesting, I've never had problems with the deck rollers. However I do mow the lawn a little higher than most, to avoid tree roots. And same here, I'm not going for a golf course rated cut, and if I'm carefull, the tires aren't that destructive.
@StapleCactus3 жыл бұрын
@@slg2771 For some reason, my deck wheels always touch the ground no matter what height I run at. No amount of leveling fixes it. That was before they got damaged, though, so now they are bent downward from hitting tiny tree sapling stumps and I can't bend the steel back. So when new, the wheels would skate across the ground when turning, but now dig into the soil because of the 45 degree angle the wheels sit at.

10:55 I actually had this problem in real life when I first learned to cut grass. We’ve got a Turf Tiger II and I used to base where I cut off of where the wheel was. Once I learned to base off of where the deck is, it decreases my cut time by a few minutes.

mowing in the rain ALSO damages your blades a bit faster, for those who don't know. Our mowing guy doesn't do it unless it's literally going to rain more than five times a week and must be cut. And when he does have to, he sharpens the blades after. Same applies to putting CUTTING knives in the dishwasher, if you have proper chef knives with a real edge, always hand wash.

remember to use the garage tab in between jobs to fix up your mowers! they get pretty beat up, but for example changing blades on the job always costs 50£, while doing it from the garage costs as much as you damaged them (usually 3/6£). You can also train up your workers, but I didn't see that much progress from them tbh, they never get a time bonus for finishing early, for example. They do less damage to the mowers, and get a bit less fines, but it's a really long term investment, tbh longer than the probable lifespan of the game itself.

The mow lines should show when mowing to begin with. Don't even need to make straight lines until you're striping. And striping in this game essentially gives the look of what regular mowing does in real life.

The difference is in the transmission, most lawn mowers and small tractors are hydraulically driven(hydrostatic transmission) and cars driven by gears
@thelolmonkey11943 жыл бұрын
the reason why there are two different pedals and cars and one on lawn mowers is because, lawn mowers run on hydrostatic drive so they use a hydraulic pump and motors to drive, where as cars run through a transmission.

You’re mostly talking about hydrostatic mowers which are fairly new but really nice.
@Bugleboy20003 жыл бұрын
Probably more info than you want. But here ya go. Most new mowers that use a steering wheel use a type of hydrostatic transmission. Smaller ones have a belt going from the engine to the transmission, bigger ones a driveline. A hydrostatic transmission uses a reversible pump to drive the axles. Hence why you don’t need to shift between gears. The new mower that he bought is known as a zero turn mower. They also use hydrostatic transmissions. But heres the fun bit. They use two of them. One for each drive wheel. And most zero turns are much easier to drive in real life. It takes a minute to get the hang of them. But man oh man are they fast.

Just an FYI. On the Xbox elite controller series 2 you can lift of the thumb sticks and on the shaft the thumb stick slides on you will see a tiny cross ❌. You can get your little tool that is in the case kind of looks like a tear drop. You can turn that cross left or right and that will tighten or loosen the analog stick spring. If you tighten it it will make the analog stick harder to move. Good for fps games that you need accuracy. Turn it the other way will loosen it making the stick easier to move. You can only turn the cross 3 clicks. It like a high, medium, low.
