you didn't upgrade for faster charging, you upgraded the amount of charge they could hold. So you gave them bigger batteries, but the time it took to recharge them was the same resulting in slower recharge time (but fewer)

I am more and more convinced matt is just completely unable to read properly... These drones basically lasted longer with the level 3, but if it was indeed more output (5->10) it was also way more power to charge (30 -> 80 I believe)

The top tech-row that increased charging speed also used different language, suggesting that the "output" does not refer to charging speed. And from the drones DPS, it really did seem like it might be that output is how fast drones _DISCHARGE_ instead, which means more damage.

I think the drones only recharge at the station they were built at, if that station still exists. (And then they choose one to replace it if it doesn't)

It's amazing how you just don't get how things are supposed to work. Games like this tend to put their defences into three different categories. There are defences meant to do high damage to one enemy but are bad at dealing with groups. Defences that can deal with groups but don't do enough damage to deal with high health enemies (so either AOE or low damage with high attack speed). Then there are technical defences that usually concentrate on keeping enemies back. While some things can to bridge the gap between these categories, you need to keep them in mind. If you can figure what each defence is meant to do, then you'll have a MUCH easier time.
