As someone absolutely annoyed by race card pullers, I have to ask, how much did race play in stopping the first serial deleter from getting many more #'s under his belt vs Garry Ridgeway aka Green River Killer, he'd been seen with a woman that was found strangled (to death) and the Portland PD was given a very good vehicle description, along with information such as his home address. PPD went to the address but because he simply acted dumb, had years working for a very well known company, again, played dumb by acting comcerned. He DID get his kill.#'s in the high 30s (police believe he had more). If they had only been as vigilant and seized HIS (Ridgeway's) truck and treated it and Ridgeway like ol' Tyrone, imagine how many lives would jave been saved? That's what they mean by subconscious bias, the cops in both may not have been particularly OR blatantly racist, but in both cases, Tyrone being a known John (as was Ridgeway, admitted as such himself) but being black and not at a job in the middle of the day vs a white fella, an admitted part time sex worker employer, was seen by one of the first victim's (sex worker's) boyfriends, the police were given not only a perfect description of his truck but followed the little weasel home, they were greeted at the door by a smallish WHITE male, but he was employed full time and was visited after 9-5 hours AND married, which I personally believe biased the cops at his house even more. I believe at that point, he'd "only" killed a few, if only ONE. He also passed a polygraph (lie detector) which even then were known as pseudo science NOT admissable in court because of the false positives and negatives it gets as results. Police themselves will admit it's really only an interrogation tool to get a "read" on how nervous a suspect is and also have been known to say themselves that someone like Ridgeway, so crazed he'd go have intercourse with the corpses he'd dumped that were accessible (such as a wooded area vs the Green River, hence the nickname). He can remain much much more calm denying knowledge of (except for admitting having been with sex workers before) any victims or any connection or participating in their homicides because his level of psycopathy, his level of steely merves and calmness regarding a subject so sickening that you or I may even fail one yet aall but guarantees that he'd pass a ridiculous lie detector, a shitty psuedo science piece of garbage that many killers caught many years later, had passed them initially, causing police-much more back then vs today-to dismiss a GOOD suspect matching a description and even those that have the same type weapons as those used in the crime(s) the police are asking them about, end up letting cases go cold having way too much confidence in those things. Only to be proven wrong for decades, sometimes too late because the suspect had died. I hope they're soon no longer used even during VOLUNTARY interrogations. Remember, if you're guilty, you need a lawyer, if you're innocent, you REALLY need a lawyer. Remember boys and girls, NO police are your advocate, ever, even if they claim to be AND are leagally allowed to lie during no lawyer present interrogations to trick people into thinking police have evidence or even eye witnesses claiming to have seen you, and that if you just simply tell them he truth before a prosecutor makes you a monster in the jury's eyes, but they'll "do everything they can" (nothing) to tell you're story and tell the court you're honest before the prosecutor can do the monster mash in front of the jury. Always insist in ONLY speaking to police with legal counsel present and under they're guidance. You can fire them or ask for a different one later if the 1st one is incompetent but you don't have to get the good cop/bad cop song and dance by agreeing to answer questions alone. JUST DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
