The most important 'features' for a turntable, are pitch control increments (ie smaller is better), pitch stability, wow, flutter, anti-feedback capability, tone-arm tracking accuracy, etc. Never heard any of those mentioned in this review. Bells & whistles are useless if the turntable has shit pitch control, shit wow & flutter, and feeds back soon as you up the volume at a club.

@@jambu3261 I've never had an issue with the +/-pitch while beatmatching by ear. However, on any vinyl turntable your going to be doing a lot of minute adjustments when beatmatching since it isnt digital. I've been struggling with this decision for a long time and can't choose....so I haven't bought one... Technics goes without saying... You can't buy them new anymore unless you get the GR model which is overpriced IMO. Long live the 1200's....
@BPMSoundsMusicandTV6 жыл бұрын
Over priced? 2k for a CDJ is over priced and yet that's the industry standard player.. $1699 retail probably $1500 street price for a brand new Technic SL1210GR Turntable that you know is gonna last you a lifetime really don't sound that bad when you think of it that way... Will a CDJ or an controller last a lifetime? Will the screens eventually fade and die? HUMMM the answer is not known right now... If I was a betting man I would say no they won't last. But we all know that the Technics will last forever. So I wouldn't be so quick to say they are over priced... They are priced over the other Turntables because they have to be... Because they are the best and they are the standard which all other makers copy. If they were to price themselves with the rest of the TT's, then they would be telling everyone that they are on par to those TT's which they are not. So to a house DJ that still plays on 3 Turntables and uses a rotary mixer and filters etc, the Technics 1200's are still the way to go for them and cheaper than buying CDJ's. So while your opinion is yours to have, you might want to broaden your thoughts about the new Technic's turntables with a higher price tag then the rest. Thanks as always for the videos.
@RealDJblaze6 жыл бұрын
No matter how you look at it $1600 is overpriced for an analog DJ-specific turntable. Super OEM turntables are also lasting over 15 years with no issues but you can get them for as little as $300 per deck (they will likely last longer but they've only been out for that long). There is lots more tech and higher priced items inside a CDJ or digital device than there is in a 1200. Like I said, 1200's are the king and are the standards to which all others are judged... They don't need to be on this list because the 1200 is so iconic that it doesn't need to be mentioned here. You're welcome for the videos as usual and thanks for your comment.

I guess we will agree to disagree on what over priced is when it comes to the 1200 in todays dj world.
@majesticuncasual1866 жыл бұрын
BPMSounds, you aren't adding to the conversation with the Technics debate. Anyone that's been around knows the ALMIGHTY TEC's rule supreme. I had the 1210's in 1998 and paid $400 each for them new. Laid off from work in 2008 and basically life fell apart financially and had to sell them. Now I'm trying to get a new set on a budget. If money wasn't an issue, then yeah I would certainly pay $1000 each [probably used] on ebay but that's not an option.. So this is where DJBoothProAudio, is doing us a solid but giving his opinion and take on what's on the market in 2018 [that year is in the title if you missed it]. The topic is interesting in general seeing how far turntables have come. Why not learn something. We should all be grateful DJBoothProAudio has class and willing to answer comments and engage in polite debate. Look how many retards are saying, "oh man, can't believe blah blah wasn't on there." I wouldn't even comment to all you freaks.

whoa whoa, three questions here: 1) where's technics? (lol) 2) the audio technica 1240 blows away that numark, and other more expensive units also. why wasn't it included? 3) and where's the rane 12? (oh never mind hahaha)
@RealDJblaze6 жыл бұрын
(1) Technics goes without saying and you can't purchase the original Technics any longer brand new. The 1200GR cost too much for this list. (2) The AT1240 is a DOPE turntable but its the SAME deck as the Reloop and Stanton decks that are #1 and #2 on this list. No need to show another deck that is the same with different styling. The Numark is something different and it's price is better than everyone else in the class... except my two honorable mentions. Hope this answers the questions.

Great review, I've owned the ST150 for a lil over 3 years now and when came to replacing my Technics 1200's, these were the closest I can to them, because of the high torque & most likely the most powerful motors in the game right now, because they stop at the slightest tap of the button. I rock them at mobile events and night clubs. They pass with flying colors, night in and night out, but my only gripe is these bastards are heavy as a mofo! Yet, I'll rock them all day, everyday! Technics 1200's will always be King, but ST150 MK1's are not a bad replacement if you don't want to go through buying used decks to have refurbished. To each his or her own, but I don't see anyone using a dial up phone anymore. IJS.

I bought a new st-150 M1 today. It cost me about 275 USD and I am really looking forward to receiving it. I am no DJ at all, but I am listening to lots of techno LPs. So I gave my old Dual CS 621 to my dad and looked for something sturdy, which will survive all the crazy student's parties, I am throwing. Maybe though I will start BJing a bit...

@RealDJblaze5 жыл бұрын
It's ok for a beginner set of turntables, but not really great for scratching and juggling. They can work OK for mixing though. Try the Numark NTX1000... That's probably the best you can find now at $400 each. Buy one at a time if you have to... You'll thank me later.
@raghidkaram74845 жыл бұрын
@@RealDJblaze Thanks a lot mate! Numark NTX1000 look awesome honestly! I want to use turntables to mix and DJ more than to scratch. I usually play some house music with a bit of funk and disco and im not really into scratching. I already know how to mix with regular CDJs or Controllers but I started buying Vinyls recently and i want to get into the game! does it actually matter what genre of music you play when considering buying dj turntables?
@RealDJblaze5 жыл бұрын
@@raghidkaram7484 You always want to get the best that you can the first time out. With that said, if you are scratching you will need a stronger motor. That is not so much the case when just mixing. When scratching, you need the speed to pickup much quicker when moving the record back and forth. You are not doing that as much when mixing, so you don't need as strong a motor in most cases. It's not Genre, but how you actually play. The NTX1000 is better all around than the T92 though.

In my opinion, Vestax PDX series if you can find them used and in SOLID condition. For me they are the best for scratching, the abs plastic is kind of a vanity thing for some, but that tonearm is the BEST 👌 I used m44's sc35's and Ortofon for carts on them 99.5 percent non skip rate. Pitch, reverse, start, stop time. Not an issue. Technics 1200'S are still on the list more so for collectors and bragging rights. It all is about what you are comfortable with, as with DJ mixers. Just master you skills on the one's and two's have fun be creative. And no need for any DJ training class, save your money and buy more records and equipment. ✌️
@kareem_the_dream2 жыл бұрын
The Vestax turntables are sick as well. They just were not available to purchase when this video when out so they didn't make the list as well as the 1200's. But I love using the PDX line. I am even hunting for a set myself.

I was thinking about selling my MK-2's to get some tables with more features... but I'm worried about the durability of some of these new tables. I've had my Technics for over 20yrs now and they still work like they are new. Can anyone vouch for these other brands? Even 10 years, of heavy use, would be good enough. I'm leaning toward the Reloop tables.

Nice review here, but these decks are more for performance turntable scratch DJs , its a fact the technics SL 1200 1210 mk2 always be best for club mixing DJs , the pioneer plx1000 does not cut it , the analogue pitch in the technics sl1200 or 1210 is much more accurate in locking a mix between two records

Ok Homie! I respect the video, but I hope your top 5 Turntables are for the turntables that we’re manufactured for the year of 2018. Question though... Why Wasn’t The Technics 1200/1210 In Your List! Technics have been out since the 70s and have been known to be THE BATTLESHIP OF ALL TURNTABLES! Technics have not changed or upgraded much at all due to the structure, durability and performance of the turntable. I do respect your thoughts but TECHNICS should be your #1 choice of turntables... But like they say, “ Everyone Has Their Own Opinion”.

I’ve had ST 150s for about 8 years now. They still work great but the film covering the buttons has eroded. It doesn’t affect functionality, but it is weird and ugly. Also I wish they had a more natural inertia, like the technics or pioneers. They stop too suddenly and mechanically, even after adjusting the stop time. In other words they’re a little too torquey. I don’t have much use for the 25% or 50% pitch when mixing but I have used it in the occasional routine. The key lock is unusable. The pitch faders are super accurate and smooth! The layout has too many buttons, it’s easy for a newbie to press the wrong button by accident, making them bad for club installations. The pre amp is only useful for djs with very low quality mixers (with low quality pre amps). I’ve never had a use for it except the few times I plugged it into my home stereo to listen to vinyl. The straight tone arm never skips, even when I literally knock on the turntable like a door. They’re sooo heavy, I used to take them out on mobile gigs and they were a pain in the ass. If I could do it all over again I’d probably get either reloops or pioneers, or even the new stantons depending on how they behave. I’m curious why the new denons are so expensive. Have you done any feedback loop tests? Pre amp quality tests? Torque comparisons?
@RealDJblaze4 жыл бұрын
Great feedback. I've had mine for 8-9 years as well and the film covering my start and stop buttons looks bad too. everything else is in Pristine condition as I always had covers on my decks. I also have the decksavers for them as well. I actually always use the pre-amp because I almost never play real vinyl. Its just easier to setup via DVS in Line mode on DJ gear. I always take these out to gigs and the weight isn't much of a problem since I've been spinning since 1992 when we had to lug lots of gear to every gig. Never done any loop test or quality tests but have done torque comparisons... They basically have the strongest motor of any deck out there. Same torque as the Reloops and other Super OEM that have not been toned-down like some other models (AKA DJ Tech or Epsilon)...
@edgarayala9454 жыл бұрын
DJBooth Pro Audio Nice. Personally, I wish they were more toned down like technics. Then again I paid $500 for a brand new turntable vs $500 for a used one. Pioneers are probably most like technics, but they weren’t around back then. But most clubs and bars here have a pair of technics, although not always in good condition. Thanks for the reply!
@edgarayala9454 жыл бұрын
DJBooth Pro Audio I will say mine are in very good condition too except for the film problem and one button seems to get stuck. Probably just needs to be cleaned.

Iamyouonlydifferent yes I just posted a few videos of my personal opinion of them. I love them they are not too heavy like the Stanton 150 and only one start/stop button which I prefer even though I do a little turntabalism other than that price point and style made me lean towards the Mixars I have also tried the Audio Technica 1240 and the Stanton150 and prefer these I really don’t like the style and build quality of the two cheaper models (epsilon and dj-tech) but from a performance standpoint they are great in a controlled environment just a little light for an unstable environment like a teen party😜
