What happen in my case I quit working to take care of my two kids. I have no join account with my husband. I just saved a little while a worked and some inheritance now Iam 60, I always worked part time before I quit Will I have a pension? I live in British Columbia. Thanks

What abt the ppl who makes 20k 30k 40 k per year ? How much they need to contribute?

they never hit he maximum so they just keep paying all year, they would get much less taken off per paycheque compared to someone who makes 90k a year, you are only paying roughly 1000-1500 into cpp over the course of your year

Why do they penalize all of us for those that don’t have the discipline to save money themselves. It is like punishing everyone for one bad person. Government can’t save everyone.

It might be worth thinking in a more expanded manner before passing on such a negative opinion of the CPP and the government’s approach to mandatory pension savings. An overwhelming number of Canadians benefit significantly from this practice in that they would have virtually no pension income at retirement were it not for this program. In addition, with the employer paying an equal portion on their behalf, the end return is very much more than they would individually be able to realize. People with personal disciplines, an educated awareness for the potential of invested savings and the financial backing to participate may not need this support but do you really believe you are addressing the majority of wage earners with your attitude?
