Good tutorial, but the keyboard shortcuts are hard to follow along with when they are only sometimes on the screen. Such as 3:17, did you press tab, e, z, but only put on the screen tab, e? It would be helpful to reference the actual features instead of shortcuts for this reason, to give a real explanation as to what you are doing.

Inkscape can be use as a SVG generator to make this as a 3D curve convert to mesh or as a stencil , this method is only if you want to apply some kind of bump or bas relief detail logo to the surface of another 3D model.

Looking forward to trying this myself. I recently picked up a 3D printer and would like to fabricate some custom parts for a small model. I had planned to make them out of clay, but I would prefer to 3D print them. Thanks for what seems to be an easy to follow tutorial.
@johnpekkala694110 ай бұрын
One thing to note is using the smooth modifier or the Shade Smooth setting will not improve the quality of a 3D printed or machined object made from the 3d model cause smoothing just hides the polygons with shading wich the CAM/Slicer program will ignore as it just sees the "raw" polygons in contrast to say a game engine where the shading will carry over and hide the polygons but they are still there. Only further subdivisions to make the polygons even smaller will work for creating a physical object with a (somewhat) smooth surface right from the machine.

your better off changing to quads to triangulate faces by right clicking before you apply. you can avoid jagged edges. you can then Un-subdivide "Ctrl+E" and switch back to object mode until you fine one that has less vert and use that setting then. after cleaning up the cut out you can then start face dissolving faces and have less resource usage and a smoother result by far.

Hi great tutorial but can't find an answer to the following: what if the bridge edge loops and fill both creates vertices that pass over empty space? I have a circular logo and there must be some variation in the z axis along the vertices because filling or bridging edge loops causes some of them to overlap others. I tried scaling along the z axis as you said to flatten everything but didn't fix it. For example imagine a doughnut where the inner hole has been filled in but the vertices outlining the hole are still there. Is there a way to cut the face of the doughnut using the vertices of the inner hole?
@mayak.ramesar44814 ай бұрын
This tutorial is great but at around 3:51 I lost the plot a bit, every time I try it I get a copy of the entire face of the logo, instead of just an orange outline of the sharp edges. Am I doing something wrong? Any explanation appreciated since I'm stuck on this step.
