Bouncers are a part of the game - a legitimate tactic. Helmets are a relatively recent addition to the game - just over the last 30 or so years - perhaps a little longer. People used to get hit without a helmet, but people say it was less often before the helmets were introduced. Intimidation and fear are what fast bowlers are trying to do, and recognised batsmen expect it and are supposed to be able to deal with them.

Yup. Cricket has a /huge/ strike zone compared to baseball, and the batter normally stands well inside that strike zone. And don't forget, the ball could also hit you in the nuts. Not fun, believe me.

Love the reaction guys. Cricket can be a brutal sport at times. The batsmen has to be ready for a ball that can be pitched anywhere - short or on their toes, offside or legside, etc. Makes for a much more dynamic battle between bat and ball. Seeing guys hurt like this is not an everyday thing though.

Other commenters have already covered a lot of ground, but also: - The fastest bowlers bowl up very close to 100mph. Very few bowlers are quite that quick, but two of them (Shaoib Akhtar and Brett Lee) are included in this video. And yeah that's terrifying speed with a small heavy hard ball and with the batter standing in the middle of the strike zone (see below) - Batters doing silly things in the face of scary deliveries is completely understandable. I've never faced anything close to international pace, but I've faced plenty of terrifying fast bowling at a club level (and in practice with my older brothers as a kid). - I was a fast bowler myself, and I did once hit a batter directly in the middle of his face guard. Not fast enough to injure him, but it did freak him out. - Cricket does have an equivalent to the strike zone, when the ball reaches the batter. The zone goes from just behind the batter's back to a few feet in front of them, and from ground level either to waist level (if the ball hasn't bounced) or to the top of the batter's head (if the ball has bounced). If the ball is too far left or right then it's a wide: the batting team gets a point and the bowler has to re-do that delivery. If it's too high (or if the bowler oversteps) then it's a no-ball: batting team gets a point, bowler has to re-do, and these days the batter also gets a "free hit" where they mostly can't be out off that re-do delivery. The batter can stand wherever they like, but good technique usually means standing inside the strike zone - your body absolutely is in the line of fire, that's normal, and yeah it can be terrifying. Oh and bean-balls happen occasionally - that's head-high full toss deliveries at full speed - but I've never see anyone do it deliberately. It's just what happens if you're trying to bowl a really quick bouncer and the ball slips out of your hand a bit early. - If the ball hits the batter's body and that stops it from hitting the stumps/wickets, then that's generally out LBW (Leg Before Wicket). Usually that's shins (which are heavily padded), but it can be any body part except the hands/gloves (which are treated as part of the bat). In practice I've never seen someone actually get given out for just flinching and getting hit like this though, LBW is really more about using your body to defend your stumps. If the ball hits any part of the batter's body and/or the bat and then hits the stumps, then that's out "bowled" just like if the batter hadn't touched it. If the batter hits the stumps either directly or with their bat, then that's out "hit wicket" - that's why you see those guys in massive shock and pain still very carefully staying away from the stumps (mostly). If a batter is injured and not out, then they can retire hurt and the next batter will come out. That doesn't count as an out, but in a single inning we have every batter come in only once - if the injured batter isn't able to come back on before the team runs out of other batters, then the inning is over with only 9 outs instead of the usual 10. Though if the batter can bat but can't run, then they are allowed to have someone else come out and do the running-between-wickets for them. Oh that was the other thing: bowler's control of where the ball goes. Deflection off the pitch is a big deal with seam position and pitch variation and all, but still a good enough bowler can be very accurate. If you want to see that, look up videos of Glenn McGrath - he was incredibly accurate and consistent. Dude could reliably hit a coin on the pitch. Whereas Brett Lee, who he often bowled with, was much much faster but also way less accurate. They were known as "the meteor and the metronome", and they worked very well together.

Helmets were first used in the 70s in the face of the quartet of West Indian fast bowlers. By the early 80s all Test sides batsmen were using helmets to counter intimidating fast bowlers. There was at least one exception - the great West Indian batsman, Sir Viv Richards who batted from the early 70s to the early 90s without wearing a helmet. He was simply the best batsman I had the good fortune to see in test matches in England.

'Short stuff' (i.e) "bouncers" is all part of a fast bowler's repertoire. Batsmen (especially in test cricket) are tested for 'bottle' as well as skill by fast guys. If you are seen to show weakness or lack of skill against this sort of attack; backing off, turning the head away and so on, you can guarantee you will get even more everywhere you play. Helmets give a good amount of protection but they are a compromise; visibility, comfort, weight are vital factors as well, particularly where the batter may be batting for hours in hot conditions. The essential thing, as always was before helmets came into general use, is 'keep your eye on the ball at all times'. If you do that your natural instincts will keep you out of trouble the vast majority of times so you can move the head out of the way, late in flight. Batsmen are more likely to get hit on pitches with bounce that is less reliable, as it becomes harder to assess where a ball is going to be when playing a shot at it, or ducking too soon and finding it doesn't bounce as much as you thought it would. Quite often there will be conditions where the ball will swing in the air with the seam acting like a rudder in flight and on those occasions the captain will not want to see his bowlers banging it in halfway down the pitch. A skilled fast swing bowler will pitch the ball much further up to get batters on the front foot playing forwards to balls that are deviating enough to get edges for catches to the wicket-keepers and slip fielders. These days Jimmy Anderson, of England, is one of the acknowledged masters of that style of bowling.

The ball gets replaced at intervals, when depends on the format of cricket played. They don't get replaced often tho.Certain bowlers prefer bowling with an older ball such as spinners or swing bowlers. If a ball is lost, they bring out a case of balls that has various "mileage" on it and try to find one that was as close as possible to the one lost. Bouncers are usually aimed at a batsman's head, the idea is to rattle the batsman. This works often, many batsman have been hit by a fast bowler and play a bad shit getting out a few balls later, bcos they worried about getting hit again. It's the batsman's job to play bouncers well, which will make the bowler give up on the bouncer, which is a taxing delivery

batsmen also prefer an older ball, flat out fast bowling is most effective when the ball is at its hardest so after the express bowlers have worn themselves down with the first few overs you tend to get the slower bowlers

13:15 Getting hit doesn't usually mean anything specific. They might have to do a concussion test and the batter has to go off the field "retired hurt" which is technically not out. They can come back if they are cleared by medical team. There's a famous incident a long time ago where a batter got a broken jaw from a bouncer and came back out bandaged up. "Kim Hughes" was the batter. The safety standards are a lot higher nowadays! Nonpfixion yes you are correct... the ball going on to hit the stumps is bowled so that is indeed a situation where they are out.

A point to note - ball only gets changed if it loses shape or get altered by players through scratching it etc. The Umpires have a ring through which they fit the ball. If it can't go through the ring it gets changed. Scuffing of the ball through natural play is allowed. The players generally work one side of the ball, trying to keep it shiny and the other side dull. You will note that outfielders try and bounce the ball back in to the wicket keeper to assist with roughening / softening the ball. That allows for the reverse swing as the dull side has more friction with the air, shaping it either in or out from the batsmen. Spinners prefer an older ball as it allows more grip in the hand / fingers.. If you were Shane Warne however, you could spin any ball..🙂

In cricket the fast bowlers use the bouncer as a weapon. But it all depends on how the pitch is playing. In Australia and South Africa you get bouncy wickets and fast bowlers love it. If a fast bowler knows how to bowl a good bouncer he hit the batsman on the body. A good batsman always keeps his eyes on the ball to avoid getting hit. This is where the competition between bat and ball is so great to watch. If you can try to watch a test match pitch report before the match start. It will tell you a lot about how the match will go.

If the ball hits the wickets and dislodges the bails (pieces of wood sitting loose on top of the wickets) it's out. Otherwise, the batsman is still in. They do have to get concussion checks now so they may have to go off anyway, or, if they are too injured they can retire hurt. If that happens, they can bat again later if they are up to it. Batsmen can also be out caught if the ball comes of the bat of gloves, and also out leg before wicket if their head is in line with the wickets when the ball hits them.

Until relatively recently batsmen wore no protection. Even when helmets were introduced after a couple of serious injuries and a death, many batsmen still resisted the use of helmets arguing they impaired vision and spatial awareness. The bowlers are supposed to bowl on the wicket but a bit of intimidation is all part of the game, aimed at unsettling the batsman.

Bowling bouncers is a part of the game. Bowlers do it to get a wicket or distract the batsman. I have played both baseball and cricket; the distance between the pitcher and the batsman is 60’6” in baseball, but in cricket, the distance between the two creases is 58’. A cricket ball is made out of pure leather, so it can be used for more than 50 overs. Usually, in test matches, we use a red ball, and they use the ball for 80 overs. But in white-ball cricket, they use it only for 25 overs. Both games have similarities, but from experience, I say they require two different skill sets. A good batsman in cricket can be worse in baseball, and a good batter in baseball can be worse in cricket.

@2good4name
@2good4name Жыл бұрын
Perfectly legal. I would bounce batsmen if I thought it could get them to either raise their bat trying to defend, or they'd try to hit it and it'd bounce off the top edge of their bat and pop up for a catch. A common 1-2 punch is to bounce them and then the next ball to bowl a yorker (low ball aimed at their feet). Also to note, back in the day they didnt wear helmets, and it was still legal. Lots of guys got hit straight on in the head and kept playing. No rule against it, but its generally considered poor form to bounce any batsman who isn't good enough to defend their stumps (usually bowlers coming out to bat). If you can't get them out, then its game on for bouncers. Easiest way to avoid it is to duck under it, usually going towards the ball. In cricket the more you avoid a ball the more it seems to follow you. Pro cricketers can read balls going 140KPH+, but amateur cricketers aren't as good and maybe a 110kph bouncer is enough to be scary. Really depends on your level how capable you are of avoiding bouncers. But sometimes you just misread it, and you duck a ball that isnt that low, or you get hit cos you read it too late. There is an infamous dismissal where a guy tries to duck a ball and gets given out LBW.

Unlike Baseball, in cricket, ball bounces on the pitch. So hardness/dampness/wetness of the pitch plays a crucial part in deciding the overall trajectory/swing of the ball. The pitches in ANZ and South Africa are hard and have more grass on it, hence the ball bounces and swings much more as compared to most of the Asian sub-continent pitches.

In cricket batsman have died by being hit with a cricket ball. Besides it being known as the gentlemans game, the concern from players is genuine, knowing also there is a small chance someone could die when hit. A cricket is smaller than a baseball but it is very hard. Bouncers are part of the game, a way for bowlers to intimidate batsman, to get them out by playing a bad shot from fear. The best way to leave a bouncer is to keep your eye on the ball, while swaying your head away and dropping your hands and bat so you don't edge the ball for an easy catch, or to simply duck under it,while also keeping your eye on the ball and dropping the hands. easier said than done of course, an unexpected quick delivery snaking in to the batsman can be impossible to dodge. This is why I love test cricket, it allows bowlers more freedom to attack a batsman. In limited overs cricket the rules make it hard for bowlers to attack a batsman, so that by design many runs can be scored for a bit of a cheap spectacle, which is what most cricket fans these days want to see.

In cricket it is perfectly legal, and also common to bowl directly AT the batter. A bouncer is a specific type of ball that rises around head high, usually it's easy to spot as it bounces around midway down the wicket. Some bowlers can make a ball rise unexpected high without bowling particularly short; these are often the dangerous ones as the batter isn't expecting it. There's a bat stroke called a hook, which you see here been used (or attempted) to hit a bouncer. There are no real rules, but in general bowlers only bowl bouncers at recognised batsmen, i.e. at the tai end you get the bowlers come in to bat, it's considered bad form to bowl bouncers at these guys as they really don't have the skill to deal with it.

This is very much part of the game of cricket just like spin or seam. In the lower batting order the number of bouncers a bowler can deliver per over are reduced as they are not recognised batters. The pitch is 22 yards between the stumps but the balls are coming down at 90 to 95MPH and yes the balls are REALLY hard. The balls are changed after a fixed number of overs and the bowling side can decide to take the new ball or not. If there is exceptional damage or it loses shape the umpires can bring in similarly used balls as a replacements. A batter can retire hurt and the next batter comes in but the injured batter can return later provided his side are still batting!

Bouncers are a tactical part of the game. It's a delivery that is purposely bowled to pitch short and bounce in the batsman. The goal is not to hit the batsman, but to make intimidate him and get him second guessing where the next ball will he bowled. Ultimately you hope the batsman plays a poor shot and gets out caught. Bouncers are definitely not like a wild pitch, they are very much part of the game.

7:30 is a bit of an anomaly because that was unnaturally high bounce of a good length. No wonder the batsmen was taken by surprise. This is most likely the result of a poorly prepared pitch (the strip of ground in the middle) and if it behaves like that a few times the match should be called off and the curator would be sanctioned which would mean a strike against his name.

@Nonpfixion's take about bowlers not really having control of where ball is going, its the opposite actually. International level bowlers are extremely in control of the ball, and have practiced pitching it at different lengths 1000s and 1000s of times. So the bouncer is absolutely deliberate.

Cricket balls and baseballs are basically the same structure - cork covered in leather stitched tightly around. A cricket ball is very slightly heavier (5.5-5.75 oz compared to 5.00-5.25oz for baseball) and very slightly smaller (8.81-9.00 inches around compared to 9.00-9.25 inches around), which means there is a little bit more material crammed into a little bit less space - which means they are a bit harder than a baseball. A new ball is noticeably harder. Because cricket balls are used for 80 overs (480 balls/pitches), they soften quite a lot over that use, so an old ball is usually softer than a baseball (baseballs have not been allowed to get old and wear since 1920). What the bowlers are trying to do with these bouncers is two things: scare the batsman and get him nervous, making him more likely to make a mistake and get out, and also hopefully get them to waft the bat at the ball to protect themselves and hopefully hit it up in the air so it can be caught. A very good batsman can play a "hook" shot, which will hit a bouncer a long way (to the leg side, generally behind square). If the bowler can unsettle the batsman, they'll then move to bowling a ball that doesn't bounce so high and they'll try to generate some "movement" to defeat the bat. There are three ways that a cricket ball "moves" (ie moves laterally to defeat the batsman): Seam: a cricket ball has a large raised seam that runs all the way around the ball; if you hold the seam vertically and make the ball spin, then it will bounce on the seam; you can make it bounce on the seam at an angle and it will move laterally when it bounces. This is the main way that really fast bowlers get movement Swing: by angling the seam in the air, or by having a shiny side and a rough side of the ball, you can induce the ball to move sideways. If you bowl particularly quickly, the movement is in the opposite direction ("reverse swing") from what it would normally be; some bowlers can adjust their speed and action (mechanics) so they can pick between orthodox and reverse swing on a ball by ball basis, which, obviously, is really hard to hit, as you have to spot the subtle changes to see which way the ball is going to move. Most swing bowlers are a bit slower than seamers. A "trick" ball - this is not one that many bowlers can hit consistently - is to have it swing in one direction in the air, and then seam the other way on the bounce - usually they swing it away from the batsman and then seam it back in, so it looks like it is safe to leave, and then nips back in to take the stumps. Note that if it doesn't seam, this is still an effective away swinger, trying to take the edge and get caught. Both seam and swing can happen - sometimes by accident - on a bouncer, which will make the location harder for the batsman to predict, and make the bouncer more dangerous. Bowlers generally don't try to put movement on the bouncer because it's dangerous and it doesn't help to get wickets. However, they don't have perfect control and sometimes the ball will move in the air or off the ground even if they didn't intend it to. Quite a lot of the ones you just watched were balls that moved off the seam, probably unintentionally, which is why the batsman looked like he had no idea where the ball was going (because he didn't). Spin: The technique needed for spin means you can't bowl fast enough to create an effective bouncer. This involves intentionally spinning the ball (ie sidespin) so that it will generate lateral movement when it bounces. There are two basic techniques, finger spin and wrist spin, but the balls aren't hitting the deck hard enough to bounce higher than waist-high or so. You can get the ball to go a bit higher by putting on backspin (a "flipper"), but even that isn't going to be high enough or fast enough to pose any physical threat to the batsman. Which is fine, because a good spinner is entirely capable of terrifying batsmen by moving the ball in at least four directions and making them absolutely uncertain where it is going, resulting in them wafting the bat in the general direction of the ball and generally getting caught or out LBW in short order (I write as a former club-level spin bowler: those are the good days; there are plenty of bad ones where it won't move at all and the batsmen just carve it to the boundary with ease).

Bouncer is the lethal weapon of ballers it bowled deliberately. The batsman has choice to leave it or hit it hitting is high risk and reward method the shots used hook and pull get you the max runs per shot 4 or 6 but its also risk of getting out caught if ball is in the air In old days there was no limit on bouncers now there is limit you can bowl max one bouncer per over (per 6 balls) in ODI and T20 where as two bouncers per over in test cricket more bouncers than the limit are called illegal wide ball/ no ball😢

It’s an out if the ball hits the stumps whether it hits the batter or not, or if the batter falls onto the stumps, or even if the helmet falls onto the stumps after being hit. If it’s not an out, but the batter can’t continue it’s called “retired hurt” which isn’t an out. If they feel up to it they can come back in that same innings. The short pitched ball is also a good scoring opportunity if you’re a good batter. Bowling a bouncer at a batsman is like saying “hit this if you think you’re hard enough and good enough, but if you miss it it’s gonna hurt. “ some batters just duck but if it bounces higher or lower than you expect it’s difficult to get out of the way. Look up a guy called Botham hitting a bouncer from one of the worlds fastest bowlers of all time, Jeff Thomson.

The bowlers spit on ball and rub it with fingers and seam on the trousers to get it worn out, they only do it to half the ball from seam, so half stay shiny and other half stripped of lacker and worn, after sometime it greatly helps to swing. So unlike baseball older ball is much more beneficial to fast ballers, if the ball is lost, one is picked to match the condition of the lost ball, because nee ball give advantage of less swing to batsman.

They are not out if they get hit unless they hit the wicket when falling or the ball touches the bat and it is caught. When the ball is new the fast bowlers get it and it has more bounce. As it gets older they give it to the spin bowlers because it turns more when it hits the ground.

The bouncer is a legitimate part of a medium/fast bowlers armoury. If the batsman is getting confident he tends to move forward and play shots off the front foot scoring more quickly. The answer is to put a short ball in that rears up and hits the batsman and encourages him to stay on the back foot restricting shot choices. Brett Lee's fastest ball was timed at 100mph, you don't have a lot of time to evaluate the bounce and trajectory of the ball, your main aim is to avoid being hit. Most of the incidents in this video occur when the batsman takes his eye off the ball and loses sight of it. In 2014 Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes was hit by a bouncer leaving him with a fractured skull. Despite being operated on he died two days later due to massive bleeding in the brain. 😢

Bouncers are mean to create fear in batsman. And all the bowlers you saw bowling are retired except the Last one (Josh Hazzelwood an Australian player) . Now a days ,A rule is there to prevent bouncers, You can only bowl 1 bouncer in 1 over and repeating it will cause a NO BALL(a free run to the score board and a free hit as well, you can hit the free hit even you got caught or clean bowled(the ball hitting the stumps) , You will be given not out except a run out )... And Its a No z if the bouncer hits the batsman it is not out unless the ball gets hitted with stumps or the ball touches the bat and get caught.

4:13 "How do you avoid this?" This is a deliberate ball by bowlers. To avoid it you practice against these a lot. On a pitch that is a little "variable", these happen more often because the batsman has the unpredictability of the bounce to deal with too. The variability could be pace or bounce or angle. On a pitch that is very predictable, these bouncers usually get smashed. And yes the ball is very very hard. You get hit on the head by these things I can guarantee you are worried about getting hit. It's no joke. It causes real damage.

Short pitched balls are bowled intentionally targeting the batsmen chest up..more likely the head. The batsman is expected to know how to handle such deliveries..duck, sway out of the line of the ball or use his batting skills to hit the ball and score. It's a test of skill for the bowler and for the batsman it's a test of courage and skill both.

Its a part of the game. Its tactic to unsettle the batsman. Some are not good at playing bouncers. Historically the pitches(that strip where the ball is thrown) were not hard in India, pakistan so balls wouldnt rise up a lot in case boucers were thrown. Hence batsmen from these regions were not good at playing bouncers. This has changed now since tech and better pitchers means better practice so Indians can play it as well as any other nation batsmen. Also unlike basketball and baseball or even ice hockey where brawls are common on being intentionally hit, in cricket the bowlers of the team where batsmen are being tested this way definitely do the same when other team comes to bat. Its more like we'll not fight but we'll do the same to you.

Cricket balls have a core of wood and bounded by leather. They are much much harder than your baseballs. Almost like a nice round rock. Bouncers are the "dare you to hit me" balls bowled by the baller where he is daring the batesmen to hook, or pull the balls for boundaries. If the batsmen have the courage they can go for the horizontal hook/pull shot or simply do a Neo from matrix and dodge/duck from the trajectory of the ball. This dynamic between the bat and ball is usually a small battle, a battle of minds and mettle, in the middle of larger war that is the game. Usually occurs in the longer format "Test Cricket". Hence the name- as it TESTS the character of the batter where he/she is out there alone surrounded by the opponent team, for multiple days, who are constantly planning to get you via hostile bouncers (that could literally kill you) or by crafty spin and also by constant "sledging" ie verbal abuse to gradually wear you down mentally. It is a test of character, endurance and concentration/mental strength. It is a sort of battle simulation in a relatively safe environment designed by the English during the hey days of their colonial empire to build character and endurance in the English colonials who were surrounded by a hostile "Native" population out to constantly get them. This test of character was especially true if your team is down say 7 players who have been out and the entire team is relying on you to perform.

Its totally legal to hit a batsman by a bowler when he or she is bowling as long as the ball has been bounced on the ground. If the bowler delivers a ball and it hits the batter without bouncing, it's declared a no ball. Batting side is awarded an extra run. The ball doesn't count and bowler has to deliver the ball again. Plus now the rules say that if bowler delivers a no ball, batting team gets an extra run, the delivery is invalid and the next ball is free hit. Meaning the batter can do whatever and he won't get out.

In baseball, their is a hitting area and a non scoring out of play zone. In cricket , there is no out of play zone....... hit the ball over the boundary to score 6 runs. Before helmuts were allowed to combat Lillee, Thompson, Holding and Roberts in the mid 1970’s...... most good batsmen loved short pitched bouncers....... they were an easy boundary, either 4 or 6 runs. As kids we were taught to be brave..... stand your ground and smack the short rubbish to the boundary for 4 runs, or over it for 6 runs. Use the bat to hit the ball, not your body. Once Tony Grieg donned a motor bike helmut to face Lillee and Thompson, the game changed ....... batsmen didn’t have to be SO brave anymore...... but the bowlers still had to bat and the gentleman’s agreement about bouncers to bowlers was removed..... so now the BOWLERS had to be brave. Of course, many fielding positions will always require supreme courage.

Pre-helmets (an era I grew up in, at least at club and county 2nd XI level), you did not try to hook a rising ball unless you were really, really good - and brave - and backed yourself. Even then, you could still get sconned. I was taught to play that kind of ball not by ducking but by watching it like a hawk and swaying out of the way. And even then, if the ball popped off a length (on a bad pitch that could certainly happen) or moved sharply and followed you, you could still get hit. Point is, helmets on average might have made batsmen less judicious about when to play the hook shot - and when to engage self-preservation mode! You should watch this videos: Michael Holding against Brian Close in 1976 (how to avoid getting killed) and and videos of Viv Richards basically in any innings he ever played (how to play any kind of bowling in any conditions!).

I would like to answers few questions : 1) bowlers do intentionally hit batts men on the helmet , they not only target helmet but they do target other body parts like rib cage. But it’s not always the case some times it happens without bowler intention . batsmen has to react in split seconds in either cases. Hit the ball with bat , escape by ducking under or bending sideways else they get hit. Now answer to primary question : when this happens physio comes out and asks batsmen if he wants to continue , if batsmen say no then he will be taken out of the field , if batsmen say he wants to play then there will be concision test , the physio asks few question that batsmen need to answer , if the bats men does not answer right then he will be taken away from the field. If batsmen answer all questions correctly he will be allowed to play but he has to change helmet and put new one - that’s mandatory. There is one more aspect here , the batsmen may be alright and pass concussion test after the hit , but there is delayed concussion which starts 15 mins after the hit , that’s why very often see bats men get out with a lose shot or they go away out of the field when concision kicks in. There is lot more to the game , it takes years to understand cricket

I've been hit by both baseballs and cricket balls and I can report the cricket balls are harder (and heavier). Bouncers in cricket are not rare. They are considered part of the game and the batter gets nothing like a walk as a result of being hit. The batter can leave the ground and come back later (if they are able to), after one of their teammates goes out. Concern for the batter, when they get hit, is a relatively new thing. Before about 2010 and the rise of "professional" cricket, the bowler (in international cricket) would generally be totally unconcerned for the welfare of the batter. These days, there is a good chance they are teammates somewhere in the world for a month or two of the year.

My favourite sport at school, we were coached when prepping for a match against another school in reducing the moral of the opposing team. Within the rules if course. The ball is solid and there is a raised rim of stitching essential for spin.
