Sir, Hans J Morgethan in his book said there is Anarchy in the world ie. no world government, but we come up with UNO as an international organisation for cooperation and peace, why did he said so although his book came later after establishment of UNO?
@SaarConcepts
@SaarConcepts 6 жыл бұрын
Good Question.... First you need to understand the realist approach towards International Organization. Realist look at International Organization like UNO , not as an arrangement for World Government but as a mechanism for maintaining International Peace through balancing power. Morgenthau would focus just on Security Council which is the heart and soul of UNO and he would say that Security Council and it's provision of veto power is another way of maintaining a balance of power between major countries like USA and Russia. Moreover , UNO does not show any attributes of a World Government. The biggest shortcoming is that UN does not have any mechanism to execute it's command, it has no armed force of its own and the commands of UN are not binding upon the nations. You must understand one thing that the present global order is still based on the system of sovereign nation state. And as long as this system exists there can be no supranational authority.

Realism contends that each and every state tends to maintain or preserve its very identify or its existence as an actor in the international scene. To achieve this, states leave no stone unturned to actualize their egocentric interests. So, states need power to make it happen. Power that can help a state to maintain its existence, that can work as a lever to achieve its self-interested agendas. Realism has explicitly to do with the concept of realpolitik, where your undivided precedence is to score your objective with an option of repudiating or overlooking liberal, moral, idealistic and ideological ethos. Sir, best explanation.
