I think would be nice some "damage assessment footage" of the attack run, if not during the attack, maybe at the end of the video.

Oh enjoying your videos quite a lot! No click bait, no sugar coated reviews, no fucking around, no bull shit, no unnecessary pretentious technical jibber jabber. Definitely shines among usual DCS content. This channel deserves hundred fold subscribers, if not thousand. The only thing bothers me is the mirrored head movement between the game footage and your cam. It is ideal to keep the shooting axis consistent. So I suggest either flipping back the camera image and putting it on the left, Or moving camera position to other side of your setup, attaching track IR to right side of the headset and using a non-flipped image on the right :) Other than that, many thanks to you and your mates. Keep the videos coming. Especially this kind of realistic procedure executions. If you want to tackle different solo content than airshow reenactments, I would love to see you fly in DCS single player campaigns. Especially in F/A-18 Raven one campaign.
@CommandT3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Will consider the comment re-camera mirror but must admit I really like the way it's set up myself. As for single-player, might consider something but probably not the Raven One as I am not a huge fan of that campaign for various reasons. For now more likely to stick to coop, airshows and aerobatics :)

Nice video! For stopping the alarm after landing, you need to reset the trim rather than just ack the alarm, it will also remove the HUD warning. Just press AP override paddle shortly, or the FBW reset button near landing gear handle. Hope you liked the extensive A/G rework!

@JoJo-vm8vk3 жыл бұрын
Little Mirage tips: - you can select your AG weapon right after take off and go back to NAV mode with the HOTAS command "Weapon SystemCMD Aft" For the attack run you just do "Weapon SystemCMD Fwd" to go into attack mode. That way you don't need to look down to click on the PCA. - for landing there is command to adjust the seat height. You should rise up until you see the tip of pitot tube. It does improve your visibility for landing and they do that IRL too.
@CommandT3 жыл бұрын
Aware of both, thanks. I just forgot to select the weapon on the PCA beforehand. And for landing I find there is no need to raise the seat - I just lean forward as much as I need to see over the nose :)

I could see this being used as a military training video. Grim reapers videos are less polished than this and they were used at nellis apparently. The really complex comms would be something like a JTAC CAS with a 9 line, talk down, identifying friendlies so you don't hit them etc. Thats probably the most complex comms and you have brief time of station so it has to get done fast.
@CommandT3 жыл бұрын

Just found your channel and I love the video! I started playing the Mirage about a year ago, with little time to practice, so I teach myself with KZbin videos and yours are really interesting! Did I understand that correctly that you use your HSI in Tacan mode to get a distance to your wingman? How do I set this up on the sending end? Also, it didnt show the bearing, right? Very cool tho! Would also be great to hear how you compensate for elevation differences when aiming in A/G modes, I guess its just practice until you get a feel for how far above/below you have to aim, right?
@CommandT3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! TACAN - both aircraft set A/A, T/R but both need to be 63 digits apart. So for example lead sets 20X and wingman sets 83X. Both need ot be on X or Y. Obviously you can't do that with AI planes. Has to be a person. A/G - if you have your radar on and your radio altimeter functions set on the PCA then it does a good job of calculating the trajectory in CCIP mode. But admittedly the Mirage can give you a bit of an error at times. I believe this might have changed in the latest patch. Haven't had the opportunity to test it out yet. Hope this helps :)

If you're familiar w/ the AV8B maybe it'd be fun to attempt the campaign mission, where you're in Georgia and have to VSTOL defend from a tank blitz by blowing up a wrecked tank on a bridge and then amphibious assault. I forget what it's called, but it's most likely called "River Defense" and comes standard with the module.

Do you have to coordinate turns in a fly-by-wire aircraft like the F/A-18C? I’m just getting into jets, and while I feel like the aircraft mostly does what I tell it to without much trim or rudder input, my hard turns tend to balloon up in a fight and sap all my energy. I’ve noticed your nose/yaw is rock steady in all the aircraft you fly. How much rudder are you using?
@CameTo3 жыл бұрын
You do NOT use rudder in FBW aircraft (it does it for you). There are of course exceptions, like decrabbing into a crosswind landing, but there's zero trim or rudder needed, the FCS does it all for you. I like to trim up a bit for landing once gear is down, but most people don't bother, and it's not required, just makes AoA donut easier to hold
@acegh0st3 жыл бұрын
@@CameTo - yeah this is basically how I’ve been flying the planes. I guess I just need to get better at controlling the attitude of the aircraft in high-G turns. I’m used to flying Warbirds where the rudder sort of lines up the nose of the plane on the horizon at the start of the turn, and I get a little lost in the vertical without that guiding input.
@CameTo3 жыл бұрын
@@acegh0st yes it's very different. This is why I love flying the warbirds, coldwar and more modern aircrafts in DCS, really experiencing the differences of the mechanics. With regards to your question, the only thing I can recommend in how hard to pull G in turns, is to practice both maximum corner speed turns, as well as minimum radius turns, and keeping them going round and round, until you begin and get a feel for where the stick is, and how the G meter or AoA etc likes to average out. Each aircraft obviously varies a bit, and the more fuel or stores etc, the higher the airspeed you'll be to hold to get the best minimums. I find 360kts is Really easy number to remember, and is a pretty good one size fits all that will give you very good results, that can be fine tuned as you go... In other words I'm going full power, but pulling the stick back to keep the speed around 360. It's good thing to practice with 1 mate, just circling each other like this
@acegh0st3 жыл бұрын
@@CameTo - yes, thanks, I’ll try this. I think I need to learn to maneuver better while looking anywhere but out the front windscreen, as well 😂 I believe spacial disorientation in a turn fight contributes to my loss of vertical orientation. I need to learn to orient myself better when looking backward, basically. I think I have a tendency to underestimate my AoA when looking over the tail, then suddenly I’m at 180kts and 30 degrees nose-up lmao. I’m just bad, basically 🤷🏼♂️ Probably wouldn’t kill me to turn on, and actually pay attention to, the HMD in the Hornet. Might help me translate that feeling to all manner of aircraft in the end. Also looking at the E-M diagrams in detail for all the aircraft is probably in order. I started flying the P-47 in DCS and learning all the optimal performance numbers for the Thunderbolt helped me a lot.
@CameTo3 жыл бұрын
@@acegh0st yes the HMD is extremely useful in those regards. I have the brightness up/down bound to my HOTAS (via a "modifier") coz sometimes when you know you need to use it, is when you see the target, and to not lose sight of target means not trying to find the HMD dial with the mouse is very important. The "which way am I looking" issue is the main reason why I was unable to fly any combat when my VR broke about 2 years ago. I have flown VR since first oculus (that made me try DCS) and I just couldn't fly without it, and I had to wait until oculus sent me a replacement headset. You get so immersed with it, it's like trying to land a plane from runway view, it's really difficult to do, if you're used to flying from cockpit view.
