I sincerely appreciate your honesty about how important it is being intermediate before going to a language school. I'm at Chonnam National University now, doing the level 1 language program for a semester. While it's incredible to be learning intensively (despite us never having any homework...) and of course it's great just being in Korea, sometimes I really wish I just waited till my Korean skills were approaching conversational, or at least very low intermediate. In hindsight, I wish more people like you were honest about how important it is to actually take learning the language very seriously before coming because it won't be any easier once you get here. Most importantly, the value of BEING IN KOREA is much less important for learning the language when you're still a beginner since you literally won't be able to have conversations with natives anways. You mainly just have to hit the books and build a BUNCH of vocab, which is something that can be done while at home.

Hi Natalia, I really appreciated the last few questions you answered! Through that I realized that I definitely do not study enough (lol) and I am kind of a little bit (just a little bit) jealous of the homework you were getting in level 5. In level 5 at Ewha, we don’t get much assigned homework, which I believe makes me a little lazy when it comes to studying. Can’t wait to see what comes next :)

Children go to school when they are 4 in the Netherlands. Primary school = 8 years, so they will be in year 1. Year 1 and 2 is mainly just playing tho. In year 3 they learn their letters when they are 6 years old. I am actually in Korea right now, started level 1! So I can imagine how emotional you would feel after so many levels of doing language school omg

Hi Natalia! I really liked the outdoors Q&A 👏. I found it so interesting that your teachers/tutors could assign essays or presentations on a whim. It sounds a little bit unprofessional to me. I've done a lot of university study (in Australia) and there's always lots of advance notice regarding assessments and due dates. On another matter, it sounds like Korea is quite strict regarding language proficiency for foreign nationals. Do you know if it applies to all industries?

I really want to study in Korea, but I'm already 21, and dropped out of uni in my home country after 3 months (studying media) because of life circumstances. I'm afraid I'll not have the capacity to study to an academic level again, or I'm too old. So I'm considering a language school over the summer. But after that, then what? I doubt I could return to Korea to study more permanently after that.

I love how you've done a mix of aesthetic and education/answering questions for your videos. I am currently trying to teach myself Korean and whenever I watch your vlogs I get super inspired. XD In the future I want to visit Korea but I am not entirely sure if I am going to live there. My decision highly depends on what happens in the next two years as I am currently 16 and working on getting a degree in business and theatre. hey natalia, i LOVE THIS VID! just wondering tho, my mom said i need at least a 1500 SAT score and 10 AP classes to have a chance to go to KU. Is this true? I really want to go here but feel im not good enough now :( also, if i major in korean language/linguistics, is it all 4 years?
@NataliaGarza Жыл бұрын
I only attended KU as a language student, not as an undergraduate student. Also only the admissions office at KU knows what they look for (they don't share desired test scores, classes, etc), so I don't know why your mom would say that. Yes, a degree in Korean is a 4-year degree
