Big thanks to you Andrew for continuing to produce "old school" After Effects tutorials without people having to pay extra for plug-ins and even giving away free plug-ins like the amazing Saber. I see so many comments below of people helping others by answering questions and I think you foster that with your work.

I was messing around with this effect and just noticed that Video Copilot made a huuuuge mistake. He didn't add "Turbulent displace" on the "Water" composition that's located in the main composition. Adding turbulent displacement here will cause all the drops to seemingly flow together when they start touching and will prevent drops from stacking on top of each other. I would also recommend using only one layer instead of two layers for the particle based drops and adding variation to the drops using the "CC Particle World" settings instead of simply having two different layers. This should further enhance the effect's I mentioned earlier.

what should be the parameters for the turbent displace that has to be placed on the water composition ? Could you please help?
@DannyCaruzo3 жыл бұрын
How do you mean it ? Make yust one Layer with Drops and one layer with Particel Drops then Pre Compose and then add the turbulent Displace ? When i do it like this the Drops dont come together, i want that the Drops that i created and the Particel Drops flowing together , is this possible ? Sorry for my Bad english.
@Anonymous-gu2pk2 жыл бұрын
@@DannyCaruzo I know I'm responding to an old comment, but maybe this helps someone else: go to the "water texture" composition and add an adjustment layer above "water drips". Then add a Fast Blur (I used blurriness 10 and repeat edge pixels turned on) to mix the drops together and you could use a curves adjustment to make the resulting drops bigger or smaller by adjusting the contrast. I also added another turbulent displace with amount at 30 and size at 10 to blend the drops even more and another adjustment layer with Roughen Edges set to low numbers and layer opacity at 20% just to add a tiny bit of extra texture to the drops.

when i add the luma track it just tracks the texture without the CC glass effect. So i end up with a tracked luma but with no depth to the drops that i should get from the CC Glass, if that makes sence. i have lost about 1/10 of my hair stressing over this, can anyone help?
@colinkeyes20544 жыл бұрын
Did you ever figure it out? I tried changing the cc glass from lightness to “alpha,” but for the life of me I couldn’t get the drips to have depth. The droplets has height but the drips just stayed luma key gaps with like scratchy “outlines.”

I followed all the steps exactly as you did, but when it came to the part when you put the cc glass effect on the background and turn the softness to 0, the water drops only have a thin grey outline around them and it does not look real at all. what might have I done wrong?? I'm new to after effects btw

did you turn the Softness to 0 and the discplacement to max (or ~500) for your water effect bumpmap? From what I see in your droplets it seems you don't have the *Watter Effect Bumpmap* added..... - check tutorial @17:30

Check the last black solid you've made in the water texture comp. It has to be the comp size, you probably didn't do that because the last black solid was smaller in the tutorial.
@AngelStars1017 жыл бұрын
John Doe he ends up changing the height to 90 and the displacement map to 350. this isn't the problem because even when I mess around with these settings, it doesn't change the look. turning up the softness gives the drops more detail but it still doesn't look realistic
