I dunno about you guys but Trevor is my favourite repair guy on KZbin, his content is just so consistent. I have met the man and he is just about as nice as you could ever imagine. He repaired equipment for me that still works, can you imagine?

Another great Friday evening Video. Restore a finish with steel wool and wax and feed on the wood. Varathane poly and stain in one is also awesome in the satin finish. Just did some AR-2X with the stain and poly. Worked awesomely. Used the wax and feed on some NS-690s and they looked new. There is also a product called Vinatone that is a vinyl cleaner and wax in one that makes vinyl look new and is not greasy or lame like armour all.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't want to refinish it, just make it look a little better. This would be easy to cut a couple of new sides and finish it to look great. Happy New Year TT

Another very interesting video. Watco Danish oil is an excellent product that has a pleasant odor. On bare wood 3 coats with the final one applied with 400 wet/dry paper provides a beautiful finish. A light coat of Watco Satin Wax would finish the job.

Happy new year Trevor. I wondered every time you put a board in the ultrasonic, but it worked... until. So the germanium's are (I think) stil point contact diodes, there's only mechanical spring pressure to let the two materials make contact. And it seems the ultrasonic messes up with that.

I've had several of those units. Really like the phono and they're easy to work on. I noticed you didn't try the station memory recall buttons. I've had issues with that not holding memory on 2 of the 3 units.

How reliable were these Realistic stereos?
@TrevorsBench11 ай бұрын
No more or no less than the other brands. I noticed Realistic gear had QC problems as lots came out of the factory with some kind of defect. They were easy to service. They were designed to be repaired and the service manual is top class and easy to obtain. Back in the day you could order repair parts from any RS store and fix these things yourself, the service manual was that good. That level of support can't be found today. Happy New Year!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, one of the better looking (inside) 1980 stereo receivers. Not a fan of those sky blue Caps. Fuses pretty cheaply made even though what they charge, I would be hesitant to put those in US machine. Pink wire, that's a 1st. Danish Oil, that brings back memories of 8th grade Woodshop class, stuff does have its own unique smell. WD40 and a paper towel will make that black top look like new.
