Realistic SW-100

Realistic SW-100 Multi-Band Radio from Radio Shack. I found this radio sitting on top of a garbage can awaiting it's final doom. I rescued it and brought it home and found that other then the tip of the antenna broken off and the battery compartment had at one time leaky batteries in it the radio functioned perfectly. It had AM/CB/SW/FM/TV and VHF. It has a very impressive look that unfortunately doesn't really live up to. Sold at Radio Shack in their 1994 catalog for $99.99 which is about $20 more then I would have thought for this level of Radio. You should be able to find them on Ebay for between $25-$35 or keep your eyes peeled who know what people chuck in the trash

Love that radio. Lost it when I move from my old home to my new one. Found it on ebay for $25.00. I use to tune in SW at night. It looks great. Thanks for sharing.

Cb is still relevant. Not like the 80s but i talk on mine everyday. And around the country during skip conditions.

Yeah it's active but I have one of these radios and usually only hear really powerful stations on CB mode. But on the other hand it is in my basement so it's probably just that

Loads of them about under different names, the most common is Steepletone. The CB channel is for the US only.

I just picked one up today. I had to clean to clean out the battery corrosion first. It looks and sounds great! Is it supposed to have a dial or meter light? 73 Paul AA1SU

Hi thanks for the comment!. Its been a while since Ive taken mine apart but I dont think it ever had a light for either the dial or meter. Its a fun radio and enjoy using it.

I think first I would try cleaning the band selector. Use Deoxit for the job. if your getting some sound out of the speaker then you know that the amp is working. work back from there. Try and find the schematic online.

Yes, we were wasteful. I try to fix things, but a lot of people don't. I just got one of these radios and I think all it needs is some contact cleaner on all of the knobs and it should be working fine.
