I had a Honda Fit years ago and I absolutely loved that car. That little 1.5 was quick, nimble and practical...and super fun to drive with the manual. It is the perfect first car for a teenager AND the perfect daily driver for a working stiff. Loved it!

truly an awesome car, seems to be generally loved by anyone that is has actually owned or lived with one!

It's really unfortunate! Especially since there is still some space beneath the floor and the 1.5 does get it!

Great collab and a solid list. However, the roads in my area are absolutely bombed out, so I went with a Forester and a Crosstrek instead of the Honda and Mazda options. Modern Subarus have absolutely nailed the ride/handling compromise.

Biggest disappointment for 2024 already is the new Crown Signia. Idk why Toyota is bringing the Signia/Estate to the US instead of the absolutely drop dead gorgeous Crown Sport. Best Toyota design to date and honestly if they're never going to bring the Crown Sport, I want Toyota to make a Prius Cross or Corolla Cross redesign that looks exactly like the Crown Sport but smaller and lower starting price around $30k.

Interesting review. I'm going to focus on Subcompact Crossovers, because that is what I am currently driving (2022 Kona Limited FWD) and will lease again next year when I need another vehicle. I sat today in a 2024 Hyundai Kona Limited AWD (top trim, ICE) and loved it! I'm also looking at the 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE (again, top trim) and curious if I will agree that for the same $34,000 as a Kona top trim, the Toyota interior is "cheap". Both have hard plastics, but that Kona interior looks like you're driving a Millennium Falcon (almost). As I haven't seen a CC Hybrid in person yet, the jury is still out whether going hybrid is worth it for me, as I don't drive a whole lot anymore.

Fun video to watch. I would have enjoyed doing this with you! 🤣 Here are some comments I would throw in. 1. Compact Car - Mazda 3 is a good choice but the C pillar on the hatchback is just odd to me, the sedan looks better. 2. Midsize Car - My voice would be the Camry XSE Hybrid or TRD mode. Not a fan of the looks of the Honda and Honda seems to be having more issues in recent years. I don't care for the Subaru at all, never been a Subaru fan. 3. Sub $40k Daily - Prius/Prius Prime, such great cars and now they look great and have plenty of power, 4. $30k Sport Compact - I like your choices but isn't the Civic Si classified as a large car? And the looks of the WRX, yuck! I also didn't like the huge screen that so many things were controlled through. GTI is great in every way but VW reliability is terrible. 5. Sport Compact Under $50k - Hands down the GR Corolla. I'm biased as I bought one but the Integra Type S would cost $10-$20k more and it delivers less in my book. I will take the AWD and real hand brake, plus a true hot hatch of a bloated ITS or CTR. Plus you will be paying $55-$60k for the ITS so that's way over the $50k point. I paid under $40k for my loaded Core GRC and it's fantastic. I also think it's a lot more fun to drive than the FWD ITS/CTR cousins. And in these winter months they couldn't keep up with my GRC if they tried. 6. Sub Compact SUV - Corolla Cross Hybrid, not even close in my book. 7. Compact SUV - RAV4 Prime, no contest. 8. Midsize SUV - Can't go wrong with a 4 Runner. But a Jeep? They are a complete POS these days. 9. 3-row SUV - Kia Telluride, the Mazda CX-90 is also a good choice but if I needed 3 rows I'm buying a Toyota Sienna. Nothing moves people better, it looks great, easier to get in and out, has more room and get 35mpg. 10. Sports Car - GR86, I like the Miata but I just don't fit well in them and find them uncomfortable. 11. Dream Car - Most any 911 as long as it's a manual. That looks so boring driving a PDK, it might be quicker but it lacks character and driver engagement. I would take the LFA over it but since that's not even built anymore.... 12. Under $10k Used Car - The Honda Fit is excellent as is the 2004-06 Scion xB, it more fun than people know and the space is cavernous. Thanks for letting me play. 🤣🤣🤣

The new wrx is better than the older ones in every way. Better chassis, better engine tuning, better suspension, etc. brakes are bad for track use. Saying the older wrx is better because they are worse is a strange take.

I suggested a CX-5 to a friend of mine who is looking to replace their 2013 Focus. The CX-5 is pretty much what they are looking for. Not exciting, but it is safe, reliable, and should last 10+ years if maintained.

Oh I would love an Integra type R too, but there is only one in my area and it’s $59,990 and it already has 3000 miles. Insane! I got a WRX and for me it’s just like how the older ones were described. Raw and hardcore. I am sure that helps that I came from an Outback. I can’t imagine to daly drive an even more raw and punishing car! Sometimes, after work, when I am tired, I still miss the Outback. Ha. ( if I wouldn’t need the 4 doors, I would have a BRZ/ GR86 ) An interesting fact, the Honda Fit is a very popular family car in Eastern Europe, called Honda Jazz. It’s super reliable, has good mpg, and pretty spacious for its size. And finally Happy New Year ! 🎉

Just finished washing Northeast grime and debris and reattached a mud flap on my turbo Mazda3. A little backroad rally loaded up with the brothers and a hatch full of presents to make it home for the holidays in time. Handled it like a champ. The car, that is, the brother sitting in back couldn't see anything and was vocal about how twisty the roads were. Right up until we found out the parents' driveway sank another inch over the year and it nailed the mud flap at just the right angle to where it didn't bend 😂

All I want for 2024 and beyond is for stealerships to be abolished and turned into service centers. I'm so tired of all the shenanigans like markups associated with buying a car. It's going to be 2024 and both of the Mazda stealerships within 100 miles of me are still doing markups for every new car

The three cars I really want to see sooner rather than later would be a Crosstrek WRX, Mazda 3 Hybrid, and CX-30 Hybrid. All three would be cars I'd be willing to trade my GR86 for. I love the GR86, it's just difficult to live with as my only car all year round, especially during the winter.

One criticism here: NO mention of brand new $20k or less subcompact sedan. Not even the Versa? That’s disappointing. It almost like it not important for them to cover that segment while there are folks who just need a mere basic transportation with a warranty at that price point as opposed to taking chance of used car with unknown history. Heck if they discussed best $10k used car, why didn’t they do the same for brand new subcompact cars in America? Not counting the SUV.

In 2023/2024 you might think the hybrid is the better option, but practically the Korean and Japanese hybrids are impossible to find at a dealer. Moreover, the car we do get after 12 months of waiting is marked up to almost illegal levels. Great video, but hybrids are not really giving anyone any advantage.
