Enthusiastically boring about sums it up. After buying a 2000 Odyssey, only to have the power sliding door alarm at highway speed like the door was open (& not be fixed under warranty by the dealer), I bought a 2004 Sienna. Ran the wheels off it! Nearly 300K miles later, it was still running well (regular fluid changes help) . My mom's best friend had a Chrysler Pacifica which needed a new transmission at 120K. When my sons & I picked them up for a 5 hour trip to family reunion, my dad asked how many miles I had on the Sienna; they nearly flipped to learn that it had twice the miles on the Pacifica. No trouble at all, there and back. Wife decided that maybe a new Sienna was in order, so I bought the AWD version (w\ 95K miles). Have enjoyed the greater responsiveness (and the power tailgate)! 30K miles more and there has been some previously deferred maintenance I had done, but otherwise a great car!

I vividly still remember when my parents picked up their 2004 new and I played relentlessly with the power doors and hatch and all the advanced goodies it had for 2004. Then set up my N64 to be tethered to the DVD system so I could play on the road. Simpler times lol 18 years and only 85,000 miles later it’s showing it’s age but still garaged and well loved. Hoping they let me use it one day as XC roadtrip van to live out of, bohemian style.

Sure miss my 2004 sienna. I negletted the transmission fluid changes and I did get 245,000 miles on the car. I missed my chance to buy an identical van with 75,000 miles or so in 2017. Mine was the simple cloth interior which wore well. The second row seats came out pretty well which gave the van a good hauler of furniture. I am currently looking for another around the 2010 year. I don't want the newer models because of the second row seat removable. You can forget the hybrid models. 73

These things are brilliant brilliant family cars. We bought ours used in 2011, (as a 2009 blue LE -- with two power sliding doors) and I drove it my sophomore year of highschool through to my sophomore year of college. I drove it cross country (EXCELLENT ROAD TRIP CAR) and did also enjoy squealing those tires on every onramp. It took four years of my absolute abuse in stride and never once let us down (other than stupid dead batteries that were our fault anyway). Good at hopping curbs and minor off roading, good at city driving (excellent turning circle and visibility), excellent on the freeway. We loaded it up with people and cargo every summer, it works as a makeshift ambulance and wheelchair van (we installed our own ramp). Any hardware trip, Ikea run, impromptu shuttle situation... it quite literally swallowed all loads. Oil changes were literally $19 at Walmart. I sold it with like 175k miles, dents and scratches everywhere and a cracked windshield to CarMax for $3,500. Probably my worse decision ever -- it cost so little to just keep around. It's so hard to adjust to really any new car when your old daily driver was literally cavernous.

We have the 2007 Sienna. From 2007 to 2010 they changed the engine from timing belts to timing chains. We currently have 239,000 miles on the vehicle and it is still going strong. When this one does die I will get another 2007 to 2010 Sienna Model. They were American Made in Princeton Indiana. With all of the technology of minivans with 6 cylinders the gas mileage still has not increase. Yes, the new 2024 Sienna 4 cylinder hybrid does get better mileage, but the current Honda Odyssey with its 6 cylinder motor and 10 speed transmission doesn't get any major mileage difference. A good used Toyota Sienna is better built, cost less, insurance costless, registration/DMV fees are much less, depreciation costs less. They great vehicles.

I had a 2001 Sienna at 240 k the Oil pump hose burst and with very little warning the engine overheated and seized. I was on a major highway and couldn't pull over. If any oil lights come on pull over right away and shut it down. Tow it to a garage. These models should have had a recall for this.

We have a 2010 Sienna Limited with all the bells and whistles (even the power folding third row seat only available for non AWD) and it’s just a good vehicle, about reliability only has 85.000 miles, so for now everything has been regular maintenance but I know the VVT-i oil cooler line was updated I think for 2009-up model years and it doesn’t have that issue. Also has the Navigation System with 10 speaker JBL Synthesis audio system (Bluetooth is handsfree only, no music streaming) and also has the Adaptive Cruise Control but the downside is that works with LiDAR instead of Radar, so it doesn’t work with heavy rain or direct sunlight hitting the sensor.

Get one! I resisted for years because some reviews made them seem like they had issues and sure they will. But all cars do. They drive great and have plenty of power after 2006. They’re really comfortable and feel nicer in a lot of ways from the 2011-2020 gen. But when you get one… get the headlights restored for a hundred bucks. Get some ceracote trim restoration pads. Take pride in it and make it look nice. New hub caps cost 50 bucks at auto one.

My 2007 LE currently had 354K. It does leak some oil at the main seal, had to replace coil packs a few times and I LOVE IT. Looking to replace it (when it dies) with an AWD version. If you add rear air bags, the handling is improved dramatically. I added them for tow hitch clearance but love the driving improvement. The transmission seems hesitant after slowing, turning and reaccelerating so I just take that in stride and wait a second or two before hitting the gas. Thanks for the review.

This model V6 engine has a timing chain, as opposed to the Honda V6 timing belt. Many Hondas suffered from premature cylinder wall wear on bank 1, caused by their VCM. I owned a 2008 Odyssey and it does drive better than Sienna which feel like boats.

I own or owned 5 siennas in the last 13 years. 2005,2005, 2006 limited awd, 2008 and a 2012. All other then the 2006 were LEs FWD. Paint ? Two went to the junkyard with almost perfect paint. Not by choice all were the same tan color. I live in Fairfield County Connecticut. Labor is over $200 p/h at the dealers and $175 to $135 p/ h at independent garages. Once they needed timing belt, spark plugs coil and water pump I got rid of them. The ones I got rid had 175,000 plus miles. The above mentioned repairs were over $2000. The 2007 the 3.5 has a timing chain eliminating a Big repair. One suggestion 1to new buyers is have the van inspected before you buy it. If they refuse walk away. And if the seller said oil changed every 5,000 miles or other repairs make sure the seller can document it. I would avoid any sienna prior to 2007 because if the timing belt. My 2006 has 186,000 miles and my 2008 155,000. A note about prices I bought my 2008 sienna local owner, well kept exclusive Toyota service for $8000 with 80k on the odometer. In 2019. These Siena’s are not exactly DIY repairs. My 2000 Echo is and many Toyota 4 cylinders are. You must remember a 2008 is 15 years old and will need repairs in the near future in4 years I replaced tires twice, Chg 😮 the oil every 5k replaced the battery alternator , pulley and water pump and starter in the last 2 years. There was nothing wrong with the water pump but since they open up that area for other repairs it was the cost of water pump

Several years ago I bought a well-used 2000 Grand Caravan and drove it until I got a new vehicle when I started commuting 100+ miles almost daily. Always surprised with what it would hold.
