Dude, the fact that you answered that as politely as possible without crushing a young man’s dream, with as much facts and information about the subject, shows that this is the best channel and person for this kind of stuff. Keep doing you brother 🤙🏾

Thank you! I greatly appreciate that. I was this kid back in the day (not in high school but early in my career), so I have nothing but love for people with big dreams.

I'm a 28 year old 18X about to ship to basic. I'm fit and have no significant injuries, my only goal is to make it to an ODA and be the best teammate possible while building my fitness and preserving my health as best as possible. I've spoken to a couple Green Berets who told me they wanted to try out for DF but they hadn't taken good care of their bodies, suffered many avoidable injuries/surgeries, and didn't think their bodies could handle selection. I'm doing my best to learn from them and not take my health for granted

Pretty common man. The whole 'I wanted to but (excuse)' attitude isn't my jam, but SOF in general isn't great for longevity, so if you don't take countermeasures seriously it's hard to stay healthy and functional late into a career.

@@terminatortrainingmethodcan you drop a video on longevity while serving, i want to serve for a while without fuckin up my knees and back forever
@ExtraRice365Ай бұрын
@MrKalabanga just my theory, but I think a few key points are -Maximize sleep when possible -Hearty diet & zero alcohol -Avoid ego lifting/training -Meditate or find a relaxing recovery hobby

@MrKalabanga Great Idea. Appreciate the recommendation👊
@terminatortrainingmethodАй бұрын
@@ExtraRice365 this is essentially the formula. The zero alcohol thing is absolutely optimal but not quite unrealistic for most, but guys could absolutely benefit from much more moderation. I will say, quitting drinking later in my career (and still not drinking now) was/is a game changer.

Malice pack looks good. Are there any other modernized alice rucks you recommend or know of? Tactical tailor hasn't been in stock in forever and LBT rucks are overpriced on ebay.
@terminatortrainingmethodАй бұрын
None that I'm familiar with, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I'm just not big into gear and equipment at this stage. I've had this one for over a decade and love it. But honestly, ALICE packs are pretty damn solid. May take some digging to find one but plenty of guys use them and love them.

Delta Selection is cake....remember...when u get to the suspension bridge at the 30 mile marker....dont go left...go right up the coal road....and u still have 10 miles to go.
@terminatortrainingmethodАй бұрын
Haha I don't think many people will get this reference. But I concur 100% with that tip. I'd say it's at LEAST 10 miles from there

Hey brotha, I got 7 months till high school is done and I ship out. Planning on going in as a 68W, with my primary goalS being passing RASP and SOCM. My pt scores are pretty good I’d say, other than that any advice? Currently reading the “Advanced Ranger First Responder Handbook”

Are all long tab mfs combat arms? Because I heard even pogs can try out for selection. But I also saw everyone in 5th group on base who’s not a long tab mf wore a red beret with jump wings. My cousin was attached to long tab mfs as a regular cook.
@SNAKEEATER1776Ай бұрын
Green Berets wear ‘long tabs’. Support personnel assigned to an SF group are paratroopers and wear the maroon beret. Any MOS can go to SFAS. same with delta selection, but from any branch of the military as well.

Interesting to hear that some guys don't stay long at DF because they just don't fit. Is that a culture thing? I'm curious, what is the culture like? If you can say
@terminatortrainingmethodАй бұрын
I never spent any time in squadron, but from what I understand It's usually more of a performance thing. The stakes are insanely high, and daily performance is non-negotiable. If you can't keep up, they won't hesitate to send you packing (exactly as it should be).

I think the better question is why does he want to go there? There are many great athletes that can pass all the physical standards but are there for the wrong reasons (i.e. just to prove to themselves that they can make it, bragging rights, etc.). Being the tip of the spear is to sacrifice yourself and your family for God and country, you are there to face evil every day and annihilate it. It’s not a job for the faint of heart.
@gen-zboomerАй бұрын
What's wrong with doing something to prove it to yourself? It shows you care about what you do. It shows you want to be there, of your accord and as long as it doesn't become all about yourself I don't see a problem with that outlook.
@conquerordie230Ай бұрын
@ Because those are the kind of people that turn tail when the first bullet wizzes by. Military schools and being selected for certain units is not like “collectibles”. You do them to learn skills that helps the team accomplish the mission. It’s not about the individual.
