I’m Vietnamese btw. When I first listened to the song/watched the MV, what fascinated me was how meaningful and poetic the lyrics are. I couldn’t believe how great Vpop could sound, lyrically. I always thought Vietnamese was a very difficult language to put into this pop/EDM genre without the whole thing sounding shit. Especially into rap. But even that sounded good. This song changed my perspective about what Vpop could be

"Lạc Trôi" is a complex word combined by "lạc": lost in direction and "trôi": floating (in this song it means floating in the river of life" Written about a king/prince who was powerful and rich but one day he realized that he has lost his most important thing in his life, trying to re-memorize his lover's image and scent which he couldn't find again.

Actually it's more Vietnamese aesthetic than Chinese aesthetic. The reason you think it's Chinese aesthetic is because Vietnamese culture is heavily influenced by Chinese, which is understandable since Vietnam was colonized by China for 1000 years. But there are differences, just not obvious to people who don't have in-depth knowledge of Vietnamese culture. For once, the mv is shot in Lam Dong, which is a region in central Vietnam. The architectures are real and are very much Vietnamese aesthetic. The musical instrument that you see the girls playing at the beginning of the mv is called dan tranh, the vietnamese version of the chinese guzheng. It has more strings than the guzheng and the sound has relatively clearer pitch, also not as warm as the sound of guzheng. The costumes are not the traditional ao dai that the rest of the world knows of when they think of Vietnamese traditional clothings. In fact ao dai has only been worn since the late 19th century. The costumes here belong to a much earlier period and are not 100% accurate, they have been somewhat modernized

There are Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese influences in the MV along with traditional and modern elements.
