My oldest son had so many Lego sets. When he moved into his own place, I had the same dilemma as you. Ultimately, I ended up posting the sets on Facebook for friends and family to take. People were so excited to get them. My son spent an afternoon taking sets apart and pairing them with the instructions. He actually enjoyed doing this and reminiscing. I made the stipulation that anyone wanting a set had to come to my house to pick it up. I had no intentions of driving around and dropping them off. I received several messages with photos from thrilled children and grandchildren with their completed sets. It made both my son and me so happy to see the Legos bring joy to someone else.

My aunt buys at thrift stores, when she's tired of it, she donates it back and buys new stuff. For $5-$15... she has nice clothes that everyone compliments her on, she always looks good... but she does it as an environmental issue, landfill from clothing is a terrible problem and huge waste!!
@jennybanana229613 күн бұрын
We should really all just buy clothes in thrift stores (no matter what our financial situation is). 190,000 items of clothing are produced each minute which is just crazy. Always buying new clothes is quite a waste of resources. Actually, there are already enough clothes to clothe the entire world population🤷

THANK YOU for saying you are NOT a minimalist! i have always decluttered and organized, but in the last couple years, the house has gotten away from me. add in menopause and new medication, huge size fluctuations in my weight- and well... here we are. a friend turned me on to decluttering/organizing videos. but.... most of them are also died in the wool minimalists. i have NO DESIRE to be a minimalist, BUT i do want to minimize my household inventory in that many things are no longer serving me or my family. the worst was paperwork. sorting and filing was way behind and a clutter disaster. its coming along. i give myself permission for breaks and overwhelm. i plan the next project. after it is all done, then the big cleaning begins. but im not looking at that with dread now that i have a plan. and NO minimalism. i LIKE clothes. i have to dress up for work. we have 4 actual seasons. so.... there you go. lol. then the next trick is to REALLY make careful decisions to buy or NOT. bc you want to maintain your good work. thanks :)

Hey Ali, I know it’s a sensitive subject, but it really depends on how you lost the weight. If you lost it by major lifestyle changes that you’re planning on sticking with then Declutter the bigger clothes. But if you lost the weight using a drug, or some other temporary measure, then keep the clothes, the reality of our bodies at our age is that weight goes up and down. Try selling Legos, place a time limit. Then donate to a library. Some libraries have a certain day they designate for Lego builds, crafts etc.
@reallifewithaliАй бұрын
That’s a great idea. Thanks!

Legos are expensive, but the money was spent and they were enjoyed. Let the Legos go to a child who otherwise may not be able to afford such a toy. As for the prom dress, our local high school accepts used prom dresses and offers them to young ladies who cannot afford such an expense. Don’t worry about recovering your spent money but think of ways to help another child. Pay it forward. 😊

Could you please donate the prom dress to an organization specifically for prom dresses to underprivileged kids. There are many of these organizations even if you have to send it thank you.

Typically donation centers don’t have time to deal with things with stains and rips Better off just looking for a textile box to drop them in

I'd never give away clothes with stains and rips. The condition doesn't have to be pristine like new, but still ok.

Thanks for the suggestion. I cut out the part where I talked about that. I struggle with deciding what to do with them.

The solution might be not decluttering regularly, but NOT buying. Make your research and see the ecological catastrophe of that over consumption of clothes. When I see all those ridiculous videos on decluttering , it makes me cry!!
@reallifewithaliАй бұрын
Yes, I do know that. I am trying hard to be more aware of what I’m buying and why. Thanks for the suggestion.

@@KB--- I am a volunteer in a donation centre. We are so discouraged at times, we feel overwhelmed, we recieve hundreds of bags and boxes every week. As you say, people consider us as a dumping ground, you can't even imagine the state of the clothes we recieve, and 70 to 80% of what we get is unsellable. We give that stuff to another association which will sort it out and then what's left is shipped to Africa....more exactly to dumping grounds there... So please, people, forget about fashion, fast fashion, ultra fast fashion and all that rubbish, buy quality pieces and keep them!!!

Never let WOOL touch CARPET. Carpet, even polyester carpet has an insect in it, called "wooley bears," which eat holes in wool, like a moth.

With legos I'd suggest to put on sale for a month and if they don't find a home, you can offer them for free.

Looking at all the comments, this will be an unpopular idea but I kept all my son's Legos because I had the space to store them. My grandsons love playing with their dad's Legos.

@@coleenpeterson5739 It’s not unpopular. I am definitely going to keep plenty. We just have WAY too many. The sets in this video were some my son and I decided he doesn’t care too much about. We have plenty left! Haha.

Why put empty hangers up , I like uniform hangers pick one type is my style and I turn hangers so I know what I’ve worn and no clothes anywhere else no boxes
