Lol we used to turn these old travel ashtrays into travel packets all the time back in the day. Long live the greatest generation. The pop up leaf is a tobacco leaf used to test your cigarette. Or in your case, attach your water pot

The little travel mini palette looks like it may have been a travel ashtray in a previous life. The little wing to rest the cigarette into the tray!

The books remind me of the watercolour books from Terry Harrison, he used to make Fotos and instructions for every little set🙂

The layout of the books are really good. They are good references for you if you intend to make books like that. Glad to know that you are enjoying a lot of these Asian(Chinese/Japanese/ Korean) style watercolour. Your tone of excitement and curiosity in things can be very motivating, that's what we all need in our life. Thank you :)

You can use a tooth pick to move the paint around while filling it.

Regarding the titles of the books: The blue one is "watercolor light and shadow". Green one is something like "Hidden poetry: classical chinese watercolor painting for beginners", and the one with the picture of the girl says "Korean illustrator's instruction book (on how to) draw girls". These are a bit loose since I am more proficient in Japanese than Chinese but I think they should give the general idea.

I love the second and third books!! Please do some tutorials from them on your regular channel! I tried to find some books like those on ebay, and the only things I could find remotely like them were $40 or $50. I don't order from AliExpress. I do order from Temu, but can't find anytlike this on there.
