his character hasnt changed much, mostly just the plot surrounding him in the earlier seasons, he was always the spider at the centre of every web, but now he's mostly just the 'guy who could stop every villain before they even become a threat but doesn't because I dont know why' and lets them all in on the condition that they 'not hurt belle' which none of them ever end up following

Unfortunately I thought his character started to get a bit stale after season 3. Season 1 Rumple was the best imo, when he still had so much mystery surrounding him and you weren't quite sure of his angle.
