I know you're probably tired of the suggestion's from people "it's cool but do "this" and it'll be great" ... but that engine is a torque monster, and yours sounds awesome. Without a tach I can't be certain from listening from hearing a utube vid. but it sounds like you might be pushing through the pump.....for those who might not know what I mean is you aren't loading the pump enough so if the pump is getting the propper amount of water it needs then you need a steeper impeller ie going from 4.11 gears to 3.23 in a car....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠ps nice ski....

I'm running Pretty much the same impeller setup that most 1100 swap guys run. Its basically the tallest impeller you can buy. I would say it runs more like a v12 Ferrari than a big block Chevy. In other words the roll on or brap as some would say isn't that strong but mid to top is insane. Definitely makes the flaws in the 650sx design more apparent. Thanks for the comment

​@@JetSkiBrothers I ordered a impeller for my X2, and talked to a guy at Impros for a bit. During the conversation, I realized that you guys are at sea level... basically.... I am at 3400 feet. When I eventually come to visit, I'll either have to do a LOT of tuning or my ski will not work right... It might work really good for a few minutes and then pop... but due to my elevation, I can't even run an impeller that would work well there. Buddy told me that unless I'm running 180 psi and race fuel, I can't run what you guys would run there... that totally makes sense, but I hadn't thought of it. I grew up at sea level, so my elevation here is kinda still new to me. Now that I actually have a ski, I'm starting to think about the logistics of me visiting you guys. Really hoping that it can happen this year, but I get that you are really busy... and I'm also not 100% sure that it will work for me.

@@JoelArseneaultKZbin I take it that you have to run a slightly shorter impeller at elevation than at sea level. Because of the less potential for horsepower at higher elevation. Then at sea level you would hit your rev limit a lot sooner because all the sudden you have more power or more potential for power. Any way when you come over I would think you would need to adjust your fueling/carbs a little bit and possibly a taller impeller. Jacob might have the impeller you would need laying around or maybe he could have one ready for you. We would really like it if you can make the trip to visit this year. I would suggest the end of august because it usually has the best weather and good tides for around here. Just drop me an email sometime and we can start planning.

@@JetSkiBrothers Yeah, you basically have it all right ! Less torque from less relative compression in my area.... but when I go there it will be sky high, so I will have to compensate. I'll have to add a lot of fuel for your area and either run race fuel or lower my compression so I do get knock.... OR ... just leave it pretty low here... and then it should be ok there. I guess changing an impeller for there wouldn't be a big deal, if one was available. haha. I tend to overthink things. The end of August would give me some time to get things in order. I'm not sure about the logistics of bringing my ski across the border, so that makes me a little nervous. I will be in touch for sure.

I LOVE this ski! I want to duplicate your build if I can find the parts! I raced expert class in IJSBA back in the 90s and my first race boat was a 650sx. Our limited did I think 49mph or something like that, slow by today's standards but it was one of the fastest in the league back then. Finished top 10 overall I think in Novice class at the havasu World finals with that boat. Would be awesome to build a beastie like this!

I too used to race back in the early 90's I raced 550 expert limited. That sea rat ski did sound pretty rad. You probably heard of my brother Tommy (the Bomber) Bonacci. He still races to this day in the sport spec class. He was a top 10 pro stand up rider back in those days. He has 5 or 6 world championships from havasu . Anyway just thought i would comment on your post because you brought back some good memories of my IJSBA days.

Im a Yamaha fan boy for sure. But danm the zxi sounds soo good. I have been thinking about putting one in my b1 blaster. The 1200 is 40lbs haver then the kawi 1100

I'll tell you the 1100 sounds good no matter what. The 1200 sounds pretty cool too but more so in real life. I say the 1200 needs the tallest prop possible because it doesn't rev as high and it's more of a mid range power. The bigger 155 pump goes better with the 1200. I'd say for a blaster 2 1200 would probably be a nicer fit. But for the sj and b1 I would do whatever is easier. I weighed both engines on a bathroom scale and they are both right around 120lbs with a pipe carbs and bedplate. I think the 40lbs is just an internet number.
