One of the best trailers ever, IMO. I must have watched it a thousand times over the years, but that morph on the Myst Island dock gets me every time. And the music is amazing, it brings together classic and new themes, just amazing.

I remember the first time I saw this trailer. The slideshow version of Myst burned into my mind from countless hours playing it. So when I saw the transition from image to video (and heard the lady's voice, "and they are real")... that blew my mind! I kept asking, "Wait. So this is not a slideshow? I can walk around in the Myst world?! Wow!" :)

I was absolutely floored when I saw the realMyst Demo. It was in 2002, but I had never heard of it until then.

What an incredible trailer this was. Still the best in the series I think. The music, the narration, the editing and the timing of everything. Blew me away. I've never been so excited about a Myst game. The thought of playing through the game in full 3D was everything I wished for come true.

@Inityx This version does have many features the first didn't, but what captivated players in the original Myst was the atmosphere, an atmosphere that can only be realized in that old-school pre-rendered environment

it's the same actress who did Yeesha: Regin Altay. This music is similar to the ending clip you hear in Rime-before the imager room.

I played MYST one when I was a kid, using walkthroughs. I haven't been able to play it again couse the damn computer won't run it, but now I can becouse I just got a ancient laptop. Didn't know about any sequels though. might try them in near future.

it's a very fast moment, like a cameo of sorts. You see it after heading down the lower wooden catwalks in Channelwood heading towards the windmill. eventually, when you see one of the valves and hear an extra sound, look closely too the left, and notice something brown, then a splash of water.

Myst has kept me spellbound for 20 years, if they could do that back then just imagine what to new game is going to do for us all. I have backed the project on kickstarter. Sooooo excited.

WARNING! Gametap's RealMyst is covered with bugs. I figured that out when I first completed it. Bugs are: Atrus' Rime Journal has a repeated 2 pages, windows in Sirrus' Channel wood house are fogged if door is manually closed, cover and pages of library books are lightly scrambled, lights go out in Selenitic book chamber when Myst book is picked up, and continuing a saved game deletes the Riven picture on Rime. Does that missing necklace in Sirrus' Stoneship dresser count as a bug?

hear this folks: There is a mod for Half-Life called "Black Mesa Source" coming out this year, and its about changing the old GoldSource version of HL1 into exactly like HL2, with a few changes too. Ring a bell here?

One more thing: I planned to create a REAL version of Myst Island as a resort off the coast of Washington state, sort of like a gift to Rand Miller, and also make a computer mod for Half-Life 2 where the same stormy Island is infested with actual horror-movie zombies and headcrabs, Gordon Freeman must destroy them but the coolest thing is that G-man opens his briefcase and uses a Linking Book to teleport, and you can look inside what he left! :O I call it, "MISSED OPPORTUNITY"

well, the graphics weren't as advanced as URU back then, it was made in 2000! I mean, I played it on that sick Gametap server because the game's so rare these days, and noticed that water's dull-you don't see anything underwater from the surface, and the waves are cyclical. Also, though its hard to notice, Channelwood Age was the ONLY one in the game that never got weather patterns at all, just a dull white background. No night, no day, XIP! (you do see a frog on the walkways though)

I think it's Catherine's voice. I play every part of this game including RealMyst and Myst Masterpiece and believe me not only graphic are difrend in this games. I love this series its awesome!!!

I really want to buy this game, but I don't know if I should buy realMyst or Myst Masterpiece Edition. As far as I know it's the same game, but realMyst have better graphics and costs more. Is there any other difference between them? And what game do you think I should buy and why. I would really like your help, and you opinion is much appreciated.

So, is that suposed to be Anna narrating? It cirtainly can't be Yeesha. She isn't even born until Exile! Anna DID write the book to Myst so it makes sense in that matter but she wasn't exactly the kind to talk all mysterious-like like that. Meh. I think I'm over-thinking this. They need to make something like this for Riven now! I love that game how it is but making it in the free-movement format would open up music vid/fan trailer opportunities!

Actually, I agree to some extent. I really wish they had chosen better textures in realMyst; these look ruddy and frankly pretty fake for the most part. There are lots of great details in realMyst though - like the ribcage lantern in Achenar's room slowly swinging.

@BluDienstag I boycotted gametap because its games were terrible. And because they took away MOUL (myst online URU Live) and a bunch of other good games. the ones they left were crawling with computer bugs. Even their version or realMYST has bugs! Like loading a saved game deletes the riven picture at the end. That's why I ordered a CD copy of it for PC online instead. although graphics can't be as good, it still works perfectly.
