In China Toyota and Volkswagen cars are sold very cheaply and their sales are getting lower and lower and not even competitive, but in the US and Europe these cars are not only sold at high prices but also sought after, so it can only be said that the western world does not have any advantage in the competition in the future.

@@anlam1044 Under the hood of Western and Japanese cars are outdated and archaic ICE engines. It is a relic from the 20th century. Chinese EV cars are of very high quality but selling at affordable prices because Chinese production has achieved vertical integration from production efficiency with complete control of the supply chain. China's battery technology is also at another level where no other country can rival. Welcome to the 21st century. Note that this means Western and Japanese automakers who relied up to 30% of the Chinese market will be all gone in a few years. This is why Chinese EVs displayed at the Shanghai Auto show in 2023 sent shivers down the spine of US/European and Japanese automakers with their first reaction of shock, then fear and then angry as they know that they can never sell their ICE cars in China anymore in the very near future because they are behind Chinese EVs which they have neglected for too long. They have themselves to blame with their hubris arrogant. Looking down on the Chinese is their downfall.

The West leaving Russia has been a blessing for Russian businesses. They fill the void. Chinese cars cost 3-4 times in Russia and have questionable quality. There is no blessing for Russian businesses, as they don't produce anything. Russia uses parallel imports for Western goods, which cost an arm and a leg. There is a shortage of everything, including advanced medicines, shortage of labor, and now gasoline for civilian cars.

Here in South Africa, the Haval Jolion is also the highest-selling Chinese car on our shores. While the top sellers are still Toyota, VW and Ford, the Chinese brands are making deep inroads to our market. A few corrections to the video: 1. Ford has been out of the Russian market for quite a while even before the sanctions 2. Chinese cars are assembled in their own factories in Russia, or directly imported. Abandoned Western car factories in Russia are doing different things, but not a lot of car assembly actually. 3. Chinese cars in Russia cost more than in China because of the import tariffs. The lack of competition has nothing to do with it. 4. I was surprised Lada Vesta wasn't mentioned - the flagship model of Lada. Instead a very specific Niva Legend was talked about.

Yes, I had the same things on my mind. 1. Yes, Ford canceled sales of 3rd generation of Focus in 2017. They had problems with their factory , including strikes, long before sanctions. 2. True. For example, former Hyundai factory is assembling something called Solaris after Hyundai Solaris, Russian version of Accent / I30 line 3. Also true. Taxes as well some other reasons like pre-installation of alarm buttons (Era-Glonass) were a reason why most of automobile giants started to manufacture cars in Russia, as well as making "specific" models for the Russian market. 4. Indeed. Vesta is a good example of a new Russian car with more than 80% of parts made in Russia, a unique design, which makes it look good comparing to other B-class cars, produced in Russia prior to sanctions ! Although people may say that it has some "troubles", it's still a good car and a huge break through for Lada, which is known in the West for Niva or Classics' Lada, based on Fiat (e.g Lada.Riva), and nowadays it's quite modern.

after Russia joined the WTO in 2012, there is no more official tariff on imported cars.. but the Russian government still imposes 300,600 rubles (~3500$) recycling fee on every passenger car with an engine volume between 1.0 and 2.0 liters.. by the way, this recycling fee will be further increased starting from 1st of Oct this year.. however, the Russian government totally refunds the recycling fee for every car produced locally inside Russia.. so, one could think of the recycling fee as a form of tariff that protects Russian automakers from foreign competition..

If you set aside the stereotypes about Chinese cars, you'll see they offer great value for their price range, even though there are still some minor issues. For example, in Australia, many Chinese cars on the streets demonstrate that they can be trusted in developed regions. The U.S. imposes a 100% tariff on vehicle imports from China, which suggests that Chinese cars are very competitive. If Chinese electric vehicles were allowed in the U.S., they could potentially outcompete many traditional brands. In some developing countries, Chinese cars are already the top choice, and U.S. sanctions only accelerate this trend.

18:41 I am actually working in this business right now, exporting cars from China to Russia. To answer that question "why is it so expensive in Russia?", well, it is because the import tax & fees is around 48% right now in Russia. so, if the car is worth $10000, by the time it arrives the Russian dealership, the total cost is around $15000. besides, the Chinese seller and Russian dealer are expecting making some profit out of it, so the final price would be around $20000.

Also the best tactics of dealers it’s to install some addons like alarm, better floor mats, etc with cost of let’s say 100,000₽ but sell the car ONLY with extra options for ₽500,000 on top of sticker price. And they won’t sell you the car if you don’t pay the extra options. This is why most people will not buy from big car dealers (also this was way before the sanctions).

Geely chevy and haval used to be main and leading car brands which produces traditional gasoline cars in China, and they sell pretty well before 2020 when new energy vehicles like BYD and other brands are becoming super competitive. So these brands like Geely are shifting to hybrids or electric in their latest models in China, but their gasoline models are still selling in China, especially in northern part of China where it's very cold, or western part of China where it's not very populated. You don't want to go to Beijing in search for dealership of gasoline cars because Beijing has almost stopped providing new registration plates for gasoline cars and hybrids these days ( yes, hybrids included), and even the registration plates for electric vehicles are strictly monitored. If you exclude Beijing and Shanghai, gasoline cars are still selling in China. In China these days , you can get whatever you want at decent price, gasoline, hybrids, electric, as long as you don't live in Beijing, where you can get nothing.

Essentially trying to paint them as market share robbers. Completely ignoring the fact that this has all to do with American “sanctions” which literally means nothing except giving chinese and many brands an insane once in a lifetime opportunity to rule a market without much effort.

Moreover, gasoline cheap then Russians can choose BYD hybrid, which is also the best in the world right now.

The main reason for the higher prices in Russia is the import tax (mostly lobbied for by Lada). It applies to both imported cars and foreign-brand cars which are assembled in Russia (in which case the tax depends on the percentage of parts which were made in Russia - less Russian parts = more tax).

after Russia joined the WTO in 2012, there is no more official tariff on imported cars.. but the Russian government still imposes 300,600 rubles (~3500$) recycling fee on every passenger car with an engine volume between 1.0 and 2.0 liters.. by the way, this recycling fee will be further increased starting from 1st of Oct this year.. however, the Russian government totally refunds the recycling fee for every car produced locally inside Russia.. so, one could think of the recycling fee as a form of tariff that protects Russian automakers from foreign competition..
