I really respect the King. He seems to want what is best for his country and doesn’t push for the citizens to take HIS side. I see some comments on how he should have done things differently during the coup. Even a couple of the talking heads criticized what he did. But I don’t think a person who has not been confronted with such a chaotic, life or death situation can really judge. It seemed like he wanted to avoid a civil war and it looks like he was successful in that. He doesn’t complain about his life or what could have been. He simply gets on with it. Good on him.

My father was in U.S. Air Force intelligence, and stationed in Greece in 1967. I was 10 years old, and at an American school outside of Athens. They sent us home early that day, and told us the booms we were hearing were from an accidental explosion at the nearby pottery factory, and we believed them. I'll always remember wondering why we could see so many open trucks full of Greek soldiers from our school bus on the way home. Amazing time of life to live through a military coup unaware, lol.

And the government took that money from the emergency funds from the people apparently... That is why King Constantine put/ had a charity made up it seems that he didn't know that the money came from there straight away but when he finally found out about it he supposably wasn't happy about it.. and he supposably wanted to make sure the people were safe in an emergency situation to help them or at least that is what the documentary seemed to imply ...

Loved this video and very moved by the King and the history of his family. I started to learn about his royal family a few years ago by accident when reading books about the last Czar of Russia, Nicholas II. From there it went to Czar's mother, Empress Maria of Russia, also known as Princess Dagmar of Denmark before she married to Emperor Alexander III, father of Czar Nicholas II, as well as Grand Duchess Olga Constantinovna of Russia, a granddaughter of Czar Nicholas I and an aunt of Nicholas II, who married King George I of the Hellenes - a prince of Denmark before becoming the king and a brother of Empress Maria. Then, it went on to Queen Alexandra of England, wife of King Edward VII and Queen Victoria's daughter-in-law who is also a sister of Empress Maria and King George I. It goes on and on... even today there are well known members of royal houses in Europe who come from Greek Royal family, or have connections with Greek Royal family in blood, such as Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, whose father, Prince Andrew, is a brother of King Constantine I of Greece, grandfather of King Constantine II shown in the video. So Prince Philip is an uncle of Constantine II. Did I hear King Constantine II mentioned Prince Andrew burial place in the video? This video provided some valuable insights in Greek history that are very fascinating.

Constantine II, Elizabeth II, and Prince Phillip are all third cousins through Victoria of the UK, the "Grandmother of Europe". For years of visiting Cyprus, it has been difficult to see the Turkish government's divisive and criminal actions on the island over the last almost fifty years. But, the actions of the Greek government in its own country over the same general period of history are equally as dark.

@s b and what is he going to do call up and ask his mother beyond the grave? How would he have an answer for what someone else did, especially when that someone else is dead? People answer for themselves not other people. Maybe you should go to a psychic or have a seance and ask her for yourself, because that's probably the only way you're going to get the answer.

Would Greece be better off now with a Monarchy? The current monarchies in UK, Denmark, Netherlands etc are popular and great for tourism.

Constantine has gold medal in Olympics. He got gold medal in sailing in summer Olympics.
@soulanicolaou34533 жыл бұрын
What’s ur point, he got the medal, because he was the Kings Son!!! Not an ordinary citizen, those days every one was poor, they were the only ones with money and status. I feel nothing watching this, he leaved in a palace and we were starving. And yes he came and got the money, did nothing else, take take take, and talk about being a victim. End of story.

What amazing history! Do you know guys that His Majesty King Constantine of Greece is also a Prince of Denmark because his ancestor King George I of Greece was the son of King Christian IX of Denmark and this King never resing to his Denmark Titles. Thats why King Contantine of Greece uses a Danish Diplomat Passport using the name in spanish King Constantino de Grecia , Prince of Denmark. and all his family are oficially in Denmark addressed as Prince or Princess of Greece and Denmark. This is why he is addressed oficially in Denmark or as courtesy elsewhere as His Majesty King Constantine of Greece, Prince of Denmark , His wife Her Majesty Queen Anne Marie of Greece, Princess of Denmark (by right and by marriage) , his son His Royal Highness Pavlos , Corwn Prince of Greece , Prince of Denmark , the spouse of his son Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess of Greece, Princess of Denmark, his other son His Royal Highness Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark, the spouse of his son Her Royal Highness Princess Nicholas of Greece and Denmark ,his other son His Royal Highness Prince Phillippos of Greece and Denmark and his two daughters Her Royal Highness Princess Alexia of Greece and Denmark and Her Royal Highness Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark. As the monarchy legally abolished 1974 in Greece , all his Royal titles are legally and recognized in the royal court of Denmark.

Looking back now, Greece became a bailed out country and until now the country struggle for survival. Politics just shown how corrupt they manipulate the their own people for power. What happen to him isn't the 1st time in Greece but the 2nd if I'm not mistaken. His descendant during the restoration worked hard to showcase Greece for tourism to help the economy at that time. It shown in a separate documentary. Now that Greece is a republic, the once Greek strong history has changed to bankruptcy. Despite the bailout from the european union. I think royalty actually is relevant to keep a country unite despite any circumstances. Just look around the world and see which country has better status and people with proud culture and history compared to a republic/socialist. Royalty unite the people while politicians run the day to day government. Another socialist failure
