Thank you so much for the detailed explanation of how to program the open/close function! the written instructions that come with the door are cryptic! I watched your video once and went right out and was successful! thanks again!

Oh yay! I’m glad! If I can’t figure out manufacturing instructions in less than 2 minutes then I decipher it and make a video 😆 I know I can’t be the only one!

@@realsimplemama about how long do you find the batteries last? several months? thanks!
@realsimplemama2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Mine honestly lasted more than six months. But because I’m afraid to let them run out, I just set a reminder to change them twice a year. 😇 no issues that way! ✌🏼❤️🐓

How exciting to get the auto-door set up! You'll love it! Soon they will be standing in front of it every morning waiting for it to open. Ours is rather simple with a remote control but still way convenient. We'll get the automatic feature set up eventually. Looking at the chicken cam on the computer to make sure everyone is in, in the evening, we hit the remote and watch them watch it close. Chick flicks! I love it! We got the door and cam mainly for when we go out of town to visit our kids and their families but I really don't want to leave my feathered kids. We've only had them for a year and a half and just after we bought our house. Which reminds me, congrats on your new home! That's a great achievement! As a first time homeowner, I know! So the grandkids will have to come visit Gramma and Grampa and chase the chickens around and forge some memories! ; ) Love your videos. You cover the processes very well and all your kids are adorable!

Oh that’s nice! Remote control is cool too. It’s definitely helped me in the mornings to know I don’t have Chicken Mama Guilt from not making it outside early enough.

I'm automating my chicken yard for when I am gone from the farm overnight, and have a question about this door. If I set it up to open using only the timer what happens if the power goes out? Would that deprogram and stop the door from opening?
@realsimplemama3 жыл бұрын
Yea it would. But the door is battery operated so unless someone physically cuts the wires it wouldn’t lose power. I find one set of batteries works for 6-8 months so I just have a timer on my phone to remind me to change them every 6 months. You would notice the door moving more slowly as the batteries die FYI. I hope that helps!

I cannot find the measurements anywhere... is there any way i can get get a height and width measurement?
@realsimplemama3 жыл бұрын
Hi! If you go to this article on my website, there is a link towards the bottom that talks about “click here for the full programming PDF“ which is how to set up the coop door, but on the diagram it does have all of the measurements :-) a lot of these companies, whether it is the doors or the chicken coops, are really terrible at having that information on their website. So I always scan it and offer it on my website for free to help people out. Www.RealSimpleMama.com/review-rural-365-automatic-chicken-coop-door-and-why-you-want-one/

Does this system have a Manual override incase your chickens dont enter the coop in time.

Honestly not that I can find but I would just open up the second floor and put them on the roost myself!

Did yours come with the timer or did you add that? I just received my chicken door and it didn't include a timer...which is what I really wanted!
@realsimplemama4 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Yes everything in that setup came together except the wood frame that the door track holds onto.

Once Blue was out she started staring at the big door that should normally open wondering why it's closed.

Lol! I’m glad I didn’t bet on her. She’s my favorite and she’s usually quite clever. I was so disappointed! “You’re my girl Blue!”
