I have felt so betrayed by dermatologist who seem to be just recommending things for sake of making money. My husband and I went to a dermatologist and my husband who has always had darker under eyes was suggested fillers by the dermatologist.. he was taken aback at such casual recommendation of a treatment for a situation he’s always had. It’s difficult to find a genuine dermatologist these days

Even I experienced the same. I was suggested filler for my dark circles and to repeat it every two years. I am glad I didn't go for it.

Hi Sherry! I’ve been a silent follower since 2015 I’d say? I’ve actually run into you sometime in 2016 in Mumbai during Lakmé fashion week and you were having a flu/ cold, you ran to a nearby pharmacy to get something and I ran into you to quickly take a picture with you! I’ve been here ever since! I don’t really comment on your videos or videos in general, when I’m here, I just watch, learn and enjoy. I really love the way you’ve worded this, raw and real. Very much appreciate your take on life in general. Is there a point to this comment? Perhaps not, but just wanted to say what a lovely human being you are!

I love how honest and straight forward you are, Sherry! As your forever subscriber, I was shocked to see Komal show up on one your Mukbang series with weird changes to her face/body, on a channel that's all about body positivity and loving yourself. Of course it is an individual choice, but somewhere it makes looking "normal" seem less and less okay.

There's a KZbinr called Lorry Hill who talks about procedures celebrities get and it's so revealing of what a toll it takes to up keep these procedures physically, financially and I'm sure mentally as well. If you're getting something done, please be absolutely sure it's for the right reasons!

I don't comment frequently but I do really appreciate you creating this piece of content. I have been a subscriber since the VT challenges and I have stuck around because you use this space and your power of words for such things. As someone in 30s and working in the advertising industry, I totally agree with you. I have heard the young kids trying to achieve society-set beauty standards by hooks or crooks. Sadly, it's reached beyond beauty. They want to showcase the lifestyle they see by influencers and don't mind being in debt for it. I hope we are able to change it and encourage people to live a more authentic life of being themselves and loving it. Sending you lots of love. 🤗

Thank you for taking the initiative to speak on this topic! Thanks to you I have been consuming content about Korean culture where anything related to plastic surgery or modification of appearance seems to be the norm. Seeing that culture creep into the Indian teenage diaspora scares and saddens me. Hoping more people who are in the limelight speak on this topic. I'm 32, and I can see some very, very fine lines coming along on my forehead, but I take them as my medals for just being alive, haha. I want to grow old organically. Thank you for addressing this, Sherry. In the last couple of years, skin clinics have started mushrooming in my neighbourhood. Within a one-kilometre radius of where I live, there are at least twelve new skin clinics offering services like dermal fillers, botox, chemical peels, skin resurfacing, laser facials, eyebrow lifts, chin transplants and whatnot. The services advertised on the storefront are loud, clear, indiscreet, and inviting. Most of these clinics are run by certified dermatologists, who seem to have struck gold because doctors no longer have to wait to treat an occasional illness-they are now treating the essence of existence, the unequivocally inevitable: the effects of ageing.

I’ve been discussing the exact thing with a bunch of my friends. We all are on ‘you do you’ but there’s definitely a fake, pseudo created beauty standards off late. Girls doing Botox in 20s to going under the knife shouldn’t be promoted as the norm. Staying real rather.

I went to a dermat for acne issues. Post that treatment, she started telling me how old I look and that I need fillers. No one in my life has ever said to me that I look old 😅. And this lady was ready to give me her rehearsed sales pitch. Never listen to the dermat if they start talking like this! I’m glad I saw through her bs and walked out of that office without any fillers.

As a dermatologist, the recent trends are really disappointing. Doctors also push procedures and patients also demand them. I used to work with someone who insisted that I push procedures too. Happily left that job! Lots of dentists and Ayurveda practitioners also rampantly doing Botox and fillers irrespective of age or indications.

I have the best dermat. I wanted to get a laser hair removal done on my face at 21 and she said there was no need. She never tries to sell any type of facials, laser, botox, fillers, nothing.
