Public Land Deer Hunting in Iowa

For those making comments about scent control and being too loud. Couple points. . . the deer are coming to calls. Thus they are going to circle downwind. Which they did. We have two people in the tree. Not one. If any of you have video of you being able to call a deer, have it go downwind and not hang up with an extra person in the tree, we'd love to see it. On the noise issue -- we have microphones next to us. They pick up everything and amplify it. And we still seem to find a few big ones.

Man you gotta love getting close to those public land bucks! A true challenges. I chase those here in Ohio and there is no better feeling than dropping a public land poper. Good luck and great videos

Great video, its public land deer they are very easily spooked and to the others making the comments get off your lease and corn pile and do some real hunting. Awesome hunt for public land guys keep up the good work!!

yes, scent is EVERYTHING!!! and one part of that aspect allot of guys miss is the "thermal drafts" the most important part . to explain this is very simple even though the wind at eye level is blowing one direction doesn't mean a dang thing period !( hot air rises and cold air sinks ) you can be set up on a slight incline and in the morn. as the sun rises and the temp. goes up so will your scent only inches off the ground where his nose is most of the time ! exact opposite as the temp. drops .

doing great job love the videos, I bow hunt only on public land in Oklahoma and know how spooky the deer are I shoot mainly does and I am picky on the bucks,.

you are in dear heaven my friend ! now i want to tell you where in Beavercreek there is a small little WMA there that is not hunted hard at all also on Brant pike leaving Huber Heights on the right is carriage hill reserve and "no hunting" well just as you leave the park it changes to Miami co. and there is a tiny little piece of property on the way towards Brandt and the dear are there EVERY evening eating in the corn the driveway to the big old farm house will let you hunt and its leagal !

honestly you cant criticize his hunting style just because he does not hunt like you. he obviously has been doing something right to have videos on the realtree channel. and if his style didnt work he probably would of changed by now if he was not having success

I agree with the scent and quiet issues, but I see a lot of inexperience with too high an expectation with probably very few kill under your belt, maybe you are hunting for the wrong reasons, f... emphasis on trophy hunting and not learning how to kill!

If it worked for that deer then it was the right thing to do and besides it's on public land. Unless you hunt public land you have no right to talk.

You are right. You are the worst hunter. You move too much, make too much noise, you apparently don't block your scent well, you are not selective enough for mature bucks, you think 1 1/2 year old bucks are 3 year olds, and you use a grunt call too much (especially for post-rut).
