in good time ... the best teaching video I've seen so far. Very good instructor with comprehensive comments and in a very didactic way. Congratulations
@Frozenguy14 жыл бұрын
Very complete, but wouldnt call it very didactic. he uses of heaps of kiteboarding lingo a watersports newbie would never grasp and only starts explaining some (not even all) of those words a couple of minutes in.
@jameskewley94403 жыл бұрын
@@Frozenguy1 Didactic is a good word Bart, but it means “Intended for instruction; instructive”, so no problem there. May I suggest “overly technical”? JK

Going to try this for the first time this summer. OMG, I'm going to watch this series but it already looks like you literally need to be a NASA Scientist to be able to figure this stuff out. ;) I'm excited for the challenge, but all of the new jargon and things is quite intimidating. I've always wanted to try it and super stoked. I'm going to get instruction (going to Michigan, not NC. Sorry) but I will try and research as much as possible before going so I don't show up as a total noob. Thanks for the videos!

Overall, I believe this a very informative beginners video. However, I did notice that you were both standing when talking about the self rescue. In a real situation, this may not always be the case in which kiters can be out in deeper water. As a beginner myself, how should I maintain buoyancy while wrapping the lines in the bar at the same time while in deeper water? There are a numbers of things going on here and I don’t want to all of a sudden go in freak out mode.
@REALWatersports5 жыл бұрын
Matthew, that is a great question! We are very fortunate to have the shallow water to coach in, but that isn't the case for everyone. If you are a beginner out in deep water, it is a good idea to wear some sort of floatation device as well, whether that be a full life vest or an impact vest that provides some float. The last thing you want is to freak out, just stay calm and trust your training!

Just turned 60 a couple of weeks ago and found a kite in a second hand shop, a harness on ebay and today.....heading for the beach! I watched all the videos I could watch and I do have experience with smaller kites so....wish me luck! ;)

this sort of self rescue only work with kinda onshore wind ... if its off shore and u let urself drag by ur kite u ll be whale watching for a very long time :D
@REALWatersports5 жыл бұрын
Free whale watching, you can thank us later ;). You are right if it were off-shore, that's why at the start of the video and in the first episode Matt went over the wind direction with his student and made it clear to shoot for on-shore or side-onshore winds for safe learning to begin.

Great video as an intro. I'm somewhat surprised they don't have life jackets.
@REALWatersports5 жыл бұрын
At our Lesson Center we do have students wear life jackets, even though the sound is so shallow. For the filming process, our acting team vetoed wearing life jackets for a few hours in the summer heat.

The person with the bar should find the right angle for the Kite. Not the one who is holding up the Kite!
@REALWatersports5 жыл бұрын
Dutch, you are correct! In this video, it is showing a lesson where the instructor is helping the rider find that angle, and explaining to them how to make the decision for what the right angle would be when they advance out of lessons and are out riding on their own.

I was thinking the same thing! Like why does he have that tone that he's talking to a whole classroom. Just talk normal and talk to the girl as she's standing right-there!! Really annoying to watch. Like there's a huge disconnect teaching her..🙄
