My package arrived today. Got the core set and the Shadows of Sullenhall expansion. The giant skeleton from Sullenhall is probably my favorite mini. Can't wait to paint him up!

Very cool! I wonder if this means that all the bones 6 minis are bones black or just the kickstarter ones. If I remember correctly they had some really cute beefolk that I might grab when/if they hit retail, the traditional bones material isn't really fun for me to paint but bones black seems like it'd be nice (alas the bee miniatures aren't among their awesome old metal sculpts)

I didn't back any of the big core sets (just don't have the room and moving away from D&D has left me needing more niche items only) but I got the Quest for the Golden Egg set and the Goblins Of Rotstump Bog set, plus a set of paints (and UPS effed me on added shipping costs, arg!). The Rotstump Bog set isn't Bones Black but RMPrint, and they delivered it with a lot of leftover support rods attached to the models.

Re-checking the set, while the larger models are the 3d-printed RMprint product, the goblins, stirges and dire rat are Bones USA siocast.

Double check to see if you got all the minis. In the core set I found I'm missing one of the pirates also missing a complete set from my order but got a duplicate of another. There was some extras tho, a new unseen sculpt for the fire newts and Bourbon Street Sophie had her corner. There's four sophies, did your come with any extras or are they exclusive to the metal? Curious about the gravestone one since that didn't have the same add-ons as the pewter mini. (which is fine, just want to make sure mine is complete)

Between the owlbears here and in the Archon Studios Dungeons and Lasers ones, I'm in a good way for them now Any idea what the red and yellow minis are made from? Is that the Siocast, or just a not black bones black?
@armandosantellano21713 ай бұрын
I can only guess its Bones Black with color mixed in. I will admit that I thought it was board game plastic when I was grabbing them.
@Blandco3 ай бұрын
I actually don't know exactly. It's probably very similar to PVC. Some sort of polymer plastic.

Why does Reaper need to still ride the Kickstarter foodline. They have been in business for years and should be able to finance their own productions.
@OverkillJOE13 ай бұрын
If they didn’t get some financial help to make the metal dies overseas. The minis would cost probably triple what they currently charge. The kickstarter helps them to make the dies, and they give the backers a huuuge discount on the minis as a thank you. Thus everyone wins.

Exactly. Also Reaper makes all metal minis and Bones USA minis in the US. They are always looking for new machines and processes to keep more manufacturing in Texas. If they were just using Kickstarter and NOT innovating then maybe you could find fault. But they are taking full advantage of crowdfunding by creating new products and IMPROVING everything.
@Blandco3 ай бұрын
So it's an interesting thing. Other miniature companies have used traditional funding measures to get the money they need. Reaper uses Kickstarter crowdfunding to get the money for the very expensive molds. Considering how much manufacturing they have brought back to the US with the money made from these projects I can't fault them for using an alternative funding system. Other companies have NOT made many improvements in their miniatures in the past 10 years. Reaper has. Now obviously Reaper is relatively small company that can take full advantage of crowdfunding, but what they have done with the profits from these lines is nothing less than amazing. They make all metal miniatures in the US, they make all bases in the US and they have a whole new lines of Siocast miniatures made in the US. Other smaller miniature companies have gone out of business. Other larger companies that use traditional investment methods have NO production in the US at all and their production in China is worse than ever. I cannot think of another company that is utilizing crowdfunding better than Reaper. Would traditional investor funding be better? Because with the expenses involved you can't just make massive new lines of miniatures without one or the other. If Reaper as a company was just sitting back and being a lazy then your comment would have merit. They haven't done that at all.
@jebstuart13233 ай бұрын
@@Blandco I find that constant crowd funding on everything you do takes away from other companies that are trying their hand in it. The company I work for just bought 15 CNC machines from China for pennies on the dollar. Maybe Reaper should invest in some so they can make their own dies.

Kickstarter minis. Reaper miniatures did a series of Kickstarters to fund production of new miniatures. If you funded the Kickstarter at a certain level you got a bunch of miniatures sent to you. I am showing the minis that I got and will be available for purchase individually soon. These are "Bones Black" material which is very durable, detailed and can be primed easily. Notably they make new miniatures that are very useful for Dungeons and Dragons and other roleplaying games.
