Glad to know they fixed the little triangle piece that comes off at speed. I think the original intent was to make it easy to get to the ECU, but when you go fast it catches the wind on the leading edge.

This is tough lol I have the '21 in Raven edition and I like that one better overall. I think the '15-'19 look better from the front with the wider headlights, but the '20+ looks better from the sides....imo

I can see that! I like the 15-19 and the 20+ as well and would take either one but I can agree the 20+ side profile looks a little more sleek than the 15-19

If you like red, remember that the red '15 R1 has the hard, plastic hose located on the left side of the bike in red. Such a touch has not been replicated since.

The difference between initial performance is euro 4 (2017) and euro 5 (2020). The 2020 R1 is more restricted. When you get rid of the restrictions, the full potential of the 2020 R1 will show!

Older model defenitily looks sharper from the front, and has better looking headlights IMO, but the rest of the bike it's hard to pick one or the other in terms of looks.

The 20’ looks more similar to the M1 . The shape of the air inlet is almost identical to the all mighty YZR M1 that it was intended to resemble. I’m not one to criticize the looks of a bike that I personally love, I just happen to have the same blue 2020 model and I got the latest iteration for a reason . . I love the blue magnesium wheels. Also have a few features the 17 doesn’t have . The 20 is supposed more aero efficient according to Yamaha. Almost everything has been refined. Engine intervals, shock internals, brakes, bodywork, clutch, throttle is fully electronic, no cables whatsoever. Just to vaguely list a few differences.

2017 sounds better to me.haha I have a 2017 but only 1 headlight is on which is the low beam. If I switch to high beam the other turns on. Is there a mod so there will be two lights in low beam?

Reaper, sorry I missed you at the Miami meetup. Moto Mac is my cuz. the blue R1 owner must have watched Jaret Campisi’s recent R1 mod. It Looks like you missed that the blue R1 owner removed the rear passenger foot pegs? Campisi did this to reduce weight by 3 lbs (and he also put on the Rizoma mirrors)

The other reason is both bikes I think have different compression ratio which would affect the sound.
